Sony LCS-AMLC1 Soft Carrying Case Just-fit Leather Case for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras

I like my Alpha so much that I didn't want to get any case but a genuine Alpha case made for it exclusively by Sony. I was skeptical whether this case would fit Alpha with 18mm-200mm lens mounted. Well, it does fit perfectly. No stuffing needed.

This case has a well thought out design. I am glad they didn't use Velcro anywhere. On top, it used a hard and sturdy belt clap to hold the case opener. On the side they used a magnetic flap cover. This makes it very convenient to take out camera from case when still hanging on shoulder. The case is also very well designed to have openings for the camera shoulder strap to hang out. On the bottom of the case there is a strap with open loop. This will allow one to hang the case on waist belt for those who prefer to carry camera around waist. The loop also has a metal ring hanging. Not sure what it's use will be. Probably will allow the camera to clip outside the bigger camera bags. I thought I can use it to carry the camera with 2 fingers when I find it hard to carry on my shoulder for too long.

On the inside, an extra padding is provided to cover the LCD screen. THe entire inside has a very soft finish and feels very protective for Alpha.

Cons:
No place to store Memory. (Maybe a small pouch that stores memory can be hooked to the metal ring that hangs outside the case)

Overall, I can't be happier. The case also fits Nikon D40 with 18-55mm zoom with ease. I paid $50 to buy the Nikon case which looks soooo cheap compared to this Sony case that is just a few 10s more.

Well, It holds my A100 and 18-200 lens. That's all. Best of all it's compact to carry when traveling and looks neat.

Negative sides:
1. I had to reverse the lens hood before sticking the camera in the case.
2. The strap is very short. I had to hang it down my neck and it got uncomfortable after sometime.

Honesty, this case is not meant for people who carry lots of accessory: flash, extra lenses, spare battery, charger and cables.

You can certainly make a use of this case at places where you don't need all these extras accessory right away and want to keep yourself light as possible at the same time keeping your precious one secure and safe.

I bought this case together with the a300X Kit, so I have the opportunity to try it on the camera with the 55-200mm lens that comes with the 300X kit. It was a perfet fit.

I like the versatility of the case since you can use it on your belt, or just to cover your camera when you use the neck strap on your camera. Additionally with the a300 it is very easy to take shots when using it as you can extract the camera very quickly, either if you use the case on your belt or with the neck strap.

Beware that since it is as a just fit case, it doesn't have any pockets for memory cards, filters or anything else, it is made for the camera and the attached lenses. It will not fit when you have a 70-300mm lens attatched to the camera (I tried already).

Bottom line this is a very good case as long as you don't require to use it with big lenses attached to the camera, or if you are not using a vertical grip.

Its just what I hoped it would be and more. The camera with a 18-70 lens fits and carries great and I was surprized when I found a pouch for the lens cap or filters
