5.0 out of 5 stars The best case for HDR-SR11/12
It fits my new SR11 perfectly --very intelligently designed. Not for the person that likes to carry tons of stuff with them. All you really need is the camera, 8GB card (in camera) and an extra battery and you're good to go. Comes with a strap but not sure I'll use it. The slit in the side lets you use the handle of the camera to carry to cam & case. I love it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Do not use for Sony HDR-CX350V
Do not use for Sony HDR-CX350V. This case is way, way too big for the HDR-CX350V. Otherwise if I had a larger camcorder it work be good.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1 WEEK IN DISNEY, August 30, 2008
This review is from: Sony LCS-SRC Carrying Case for HDD Handycam Camcorders (Electronics)
I bought this case for my SONY HDR SR-11 when we went to Disney World for our honeymoon. I would say after a week of use in all the parks (except blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon), this case did a good job of protecting my camcorder. I did not use the strap, I had it on my belt all the time.

PROS:
- not too bulky, perfect fit for the SR-11
- did not have to remove when going on Disney attraction rides (even everest).
- the extra battery pouch was useful, since a single battery is not enough for a whole day in the parks.

CONS:
- camera barely fits the case whenever I had the wide angle lens on together with the supplied NP-FH60 battery
- camera wouldn't fit if you have wide angle lens on and an extended life battery NP-FH100 (with cover adjusted)
- it did not look good on pictures having this on my waist, with me and my wife together (that is why four stars only)

This is convenient if you are just going to be the cameraman but I would probably not use this again in our next vacation since you cannot just remove this when you also would want to be in the pictures. I bought a Kata slingcase which is more convenient for me. In case you decide to use this, I would recommend using a shoulder strap for your camera too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, Secure and Perfect, May 27, 2008
This review is from: Sony LCS-SRC Carrying Case for HDD Handycam Camcorders (Electronics)
I own the SR220 handycam, and bought this because I didn't want one of those giant gymbag-type carrying cases. This case is perfect! Its very light, and is barely larger than the camera. There's room for an extra battery, and that's it. So if you own an HDD camera and don't need to carry around tons of accessories, I would highly recommend this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Case, November 24, 2008

This case exceeded my expectations in every way. It's super easy to access the camcorder from the case while at the same time keeping it super secure and protected. The belt clasp on the back is great for attaching it to the exterior of a backpack during a hike. I would def recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great carrying case, May 30, 2008

I bought this case for my husband to use as he hates to carry around a huge bag. It has protected the camera well and has a nice adjustable strap to carry it with. It even has the little extra case for storing your spare battery.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit large for the HDR-CX550V, May 4, 2010

This review is from: Sony LCS-SRC Carrying Case for HDD Handycam Camcorders (Electronics)
This case seems pretty well designed and very well made --- though the synthetic leather is an unknown for how long it will last before it cracks. The main loop that attaches to a belt is made of this, and if it cracks, there is no way to attach the case. For this part nylon would have been better for durability.

One design flaw is that as you slide the camcorder into the holster, the strap going through the slot, your hand gets squeezed against the male velcro hooks which can really scrape it. They should have put the male velcro inside the top of the case, with soft female velcro where one's hand slides.

This case is designed for a wide variety of camcorders, which includes the April 2010 released Sony HDR-CX550V Camcorder, but it is about 30% wider around than necessary for this model. It would be nice to have a smaller case that fits this model like a glove to add to the overall compactness of the system. The adjustable height top is well designed for if you put on a long Sony NPFV100 Battery.

The little "side-kick" case is never explained in the instructions, but it is just the size of the Sony NPFV100 Battery, which is the main large extra one would carry with this camcorder. It seems well designed in attachment, versatility and access.

I bought this case for my Sony XR500V camcorder and it fits perfectly snug. The XR500v is a HDD camcorder so it's a little bit bigger than a flash drive camcorder such as the CX500V so I'd imagine a camcorder like that would have more wiggle room. I prefer the tight fit as it feels more secure. There's enough room up top to allow a FH100 battery (which protrudes about a 1/2 inch out of the back of the camcorder) to be on the camcorder. But that's about it as far as room for anything. The clip on bag allows you to put in a spare battery or extra memory cards. Otherwise don't expect to carry your AC adapter in this thing or any other accessories. This is more for on the go type of filming where you need to whip out your camcorder in gunslinging style. The design is perfect for that as all you have to do is slip your fingers into the strap which sits outside and pull up releasing the velcro and the camcorder slips right out and ready to shoot. Slipping the camcorder back in is just as easy. If you need to lug around a bunch of accessories for serious shooting such as the AC adapter, accessory lenses, etc, then this is not the case for you. I just wish they had another clip on bag that could fit your AC adapter on the other side. Then this would be almost perfect. Of course that wouldn't look all that attractive, but oh well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for HDR-HR500V/520V, no memory stick slots., June 8, 2009

I will give this a good review, since it is basically the same type of case I had for my HDR-CX7/CX12 cameras, but... some issues.

1) I bought this case for my new Sony HDR-XR500V HD hard drive/memory stick camera. When it arrived, I was disappointed that it no longer had the two velcro pockets inside the lid for two memory sticks. I guess they assumed that since this was for "hard drive" cameras, there was no need for those slots, but the XR500V uses both memory stick and hard drive, and I usually record to memory to save the hard drive from a crash (unless I really need the long time -- the HD is a backup for me).

2) I found out this will not even work with the XR500V. The handle slot is centered in the case, but the XR500V has the handle near the bottom, so it slides in at a very awkward angle. A reviewer for the XR500V points this out, and suggests the LCS-DAB case instead.

So, no memory card slot, but probably good for someone with the right camera. My previous comments remain:

Great for those with no accessories other than a spare battery. Need anything else, like lens cloths? No place for them, and Sony does not sell the pouches separately so you've had to rig your own.

I am returning mine to Amazon (great customer service for them, by the way!) and ordering the DAB model for my camera.

Does the job and holds my Sony camcorder in place, with a nice back pouch for the extra battery.
