The Sony MZ-E300 easily slips into a pocket for personal enjoyment just about anywhere. A built-in LCD shows battery level and track information, and controls provide direct access to the player's functions. As a result of advanced Sony engineering you can play your favorite music up to 33 hours using just one battery. The unit's 20-second shock resistant memory resists bumps or vibrations while the laser scans ahead on the disc and stores 20 seconds of music in memory, for virtually skip-free playback. The Digital Mega Bass sound system provides rich, deep bass tones with digital signal processing for virtually inaudible harmonic distortion and the Automatic Volume Limiter System automatically adjusts volume output of music passages that vary widely, for improved listener comfort and clear sound.

Pros: light; inexpensive; well-placed buttons are protected from scrapes by the protruding battery area; has a socket for headphone-cord remote (if you have one from another sony cd/md player).

Cons: doesn't play MDs recorded in LP2 or LP4 format; battery life (33hrs) isn't as long as pricier players; opening mechanism is somewhat flimsy plastic.

Overall I like this player, particularly for its great price and clean appearance. The battery life is long enough to hear 28 discs, so it shouldn't be a problem! I bought it for my mom to take on a trip and she had no problems with it.
