I run wearing these for an hour or more every day. My pair lasted for 10 months before one earbud stopped working; I'm buying a replacement pair now because they work well enough and they're not expensive. Since most earphones seem pretty unsatisfactory (especially for runners), a semi-disposable, functional, rather cheap pair to replace annually seems as good an option as any.

I always use ear-bud headphones when walking, for some reason the over-the-ear headphones give me headaches. So I've always also just assumed that I'd never have clear sound. No more! These headphones are wonderful. The range of music I like is very much varied. These sound great for all types, and most surprisingly is their ability to handle resonant bass in some newer songs. I'm really amazed, actually. It's weird having sound that's as good as a nice stereo when you're walking the dog. One setback is that I need to use the foam covers because the plastic buds along fall out of my ears at the slightest tug of the cable. It's a setback for me. Maybe my ears are getting bigger as I get older? This has never been an issue. Regardless, it's a tiny fault for the best, cheapest headphones I've ever bought.

I use headphones on airplanes, in the gym, and--alas--I often sleep with them. Have tried many products, but none as happily as these. They were clearly designed by someone who was aware of the direction of the human ear canal, are comfortable, low profile, and have great sound. They also come in a wonderfully useful little storage case to keep you from losing the bud covers in pocket or briefcase.

The Absolute Best,

I bought these earbuds for my husband a couple of years ago as part of a birthday present. He always loved them and insisted that they were the most comfortable earbuds he had ever used (and he had been through a number of pairs). I was happy that he was happy with them, but I was definetely a headphones person myself. I hated earbuds. Until my headphones died.My husband lent me his Sony Sport Earbuds to take to the gym with me in the morning. I was skeptical, but tried them out. I was immediately hooked! They were sooo comfortable! They fit well, never came out, and never made my ears hurt. They also provided plenty of good, clear sound. The carrying case was also a neat bonus that let me stick them easily into my pocket without dangling cords or knots. The case also helps to keep the internal wire from breaking, something common with headphones that have the wires wrapped around them. I started taking my husband's earbuds so often, that I had to get my own pair. We both own these earbuds now and are just thrilled with them. They have been great and very long wearing. In fact, my husband's are about three years old now. Get these earbuds, you won't regret it.

The tops!!,
This review is from: Sony MDR-E827G Sports Series Fontopia Water-Resistant Ear-Bud Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
I have run through a lot of earphone this past year so I am getting to be rather an expert on the problems. This is one of the best. The sound is THE BEST I have found no matter the price range. I especially like the smaller ear buds. Some of others were an "areaness factor". They were so big I was constantly aware of their pressure. I don't feel these. They are so comfortable, I don't notice anything but beautiful sound. Full range from highs to low with no fuzziness or distortion. Just pure rich clean sound.
The cord is coated and reinforced, so will take wear. Great item, great price. So put on Clannad or Silly Tinkers and have at it!

Update: Durability is not as expected. After a few months of moderate daily use (MP3 player in my shirt pocket) during my commute to and from work the connection between the wires and the stereo plug is beginning to fail. Regular body movements will cause a break in the connection and I don't expect these ear-buds to last to the end of the year. Too bad since they produce nice sound.
---------------------------------------------------- Had these for a few months before opening the package and trying them on. First tried to use the buds as they were packed - without the little spongy covers over the buds - and was totally disappointed with a loose fit, weak midrange, scratchy treble, and almost no bass whatsoever. Finally got the brilliant idea of putting the covers on and giving them one last try ... Wha?!?! Were these the same phones? The buds fit much better in my ears and I had a totally different experience with great mids, good treble, and very decent bass. These earbuds won't change your life but they'll make your MUNI commute more pleasant by allowing you to block out the miscellaneous grunts and chirps made by your fellow transit commuters. Just remember to use the sponge thingys.

I have had these headphones for over a year and am 100% satisfied. I use them exclusively for working out and running. They have pretty good sound, a nice carrying case, and have survived over a year's worth of running. I have not had any problems with them falling out of my ears or the wire shorting out. In fact, I use a tie on the wire so that the cord is not so long when I run. Despite this, no problems.
This is probably the best pair of earbud-style headphones I have ever purchased. I am so happy that I am ordering another pair.

I have a vocation where, even though I don't want to be a runner, I have to be. Therfore, any distraction from running such as listining to an MP-3 is helpful. Conversely, if the music is coming in and out or the ear buds are bugging me it makes the run even more difficult.
The Sony MDR-E827G ear buds were my third set of buds this year. I purchased them in hopes that they would resist the damage brought on by perspiration (I'm also a beer drinker). What a pleasant surpise. Number one: the cables are thick unlike the hair thin ones that are coming with all the "high-end ear buds," number two: better bass than the ear buds that came with my "Zune." Finally the cables are short so they are not flopping around and driving you crazy by your third mile. The little wind up spool I believe was meant for preserving the cable life but I tossed it. It was annoying and took up space. However, for the money, you cannot beat these buds.

I'm not entirely sure how other people are finding ways to damage their earphones, but I have used the same pair since the summer of 2000 (purchased from Amazon), and I have never had any difficulties besides losing the essential earpiece covers, which were easily replaced. When they are wound up in their little yellow case, the headphones' wires are well protected from stress unlike other models that don't offer such security.
Compared to other headphones I have used, especially noise cancelling of both active and passive varieties, these phones have superior bass response, and all levels of sound seem reasonably clear. I have used these earphones with many different devices over five years: CD players, MP3 players (including iPods), Pocket PCs, desktops, and notebooks. They always sound great, EXCEPT - due to their greater sensitivity to sound, I often am able to detect the hiss caused by poorly designed audio hardware, which I otherwise wouldn't hear with over-ear phones. Pocket PCs especially seem prone to this, as their audio hardware is crammed so tightly in with noisy backlit screens and processors.

Overall, a great pair of earbuds,

I bought a CD player and decided to go ahead and get a pair of earbuds with it. I picked these and I must say, when I got them I was really impressed. They came in this neat handy case that you could swivel and it would roll up the cord for you, they looked cool and sounded just awesome. But I don't know if it is just me, but it is really hard to get the things to fit snugly in my ear. They keep wanting to slide away. It did come with some foam covers, and they helped a little. Still, other than that, these are around the best earbuds I've ever tried.
