4.0 out of 5 stars Near perfection, October 22, 2005
This review is from: Sony MDR-G56V Street Style Headphones with In-line Volume Control (Electronics)
These headphones provide a great combination of Sound and comfort. I have had mine for almost a year and the sound quality is still above decent. Many headphones lose a lot of quality after a few months of use, but these still seem to be holding out quite well. They don't noise cancel or anything but they can get loud enough to where I can mow the lawn and still hear my music.

In terms of comfort these are the best I've ever owned. They fit so well and weigh so little, that after a minute or two of use, you won't even think you are wearing them! They are also very discreet and low profile. Hats aren't a problem due to the plastic strip that goes behind rather than over. (a great design idea) The only complaint I have is that you can't lean back on anything with them on. So if your sitting down, you won't be able to bend them to lean your head on a chair.

Probably one of my favorite things about these is the durability. I carry my Player and headphones around in a book filled bag on the go. Trust me, I have tried a lot of different headphones and most of them simply can't take the pressure. About 80% of the ones I've tried break after a couple weeks of "bag storage" due to all the pressure I exert on the bag and the stuff I put in it. These headphones however, have gone almost an entire year in my bag, and are still in perfect condition!!!

So if your looking for a durableand comfortable headphone that will retain it's sound for a while, this is the way to go!

4.0 out of 5 stars best in class, March 17, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Sony MDR-G56V Street Style Headphones with In-line Volume Control (Electronics)
I've used my pair frequently for about seven months.

When used with a pocket-sized player (such as a digital player), the volume control on the cord (which distinguishes this model from MDR-G57G, MDR-G52LP and MDR-G72LP) is convenient---particularly for a person like myself whose playlist often contains classical, jazz and rock.

The plastic armature can be adjusted by bending. After a little adjustment, I've found them exceptionally comfortable for extended wear, even with glasses.

The slightly obnoxious silver Sony logo is on a pair of plastic inserts that can be removed easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars headphones that just keep on performing..., November 25, 2009
This review is from: Sony MDR-G56V Street Style Headphones with In-line Volume Control (Electronics)
I've owned a pair of these for so long I don't remember when I bought them, maybe eight years ago. Even though the ear protector foam has worn off these babies keep pumping out a great sound.

Plenty of bass for a lightweight design, the volume is loud and clear enough without damaging the ear. The cable is very durable, no issues with kinks or falling out of the earpiece. The volume control is an invaluable feature. I particularly like the fact it is analogue, which gives precise control. It is a little small and fiddly so you may need to take off your gloves.

I've worn these headphones on a crowded train every day this year. People around me have noisy headphones that annoy fellow travellers - theirs seem sound louder outside the ear than inside! But my headphones are practically silent when they're not on my own head. You won't disturb the comfort of fellow commuters wearing these.

Speaking of comfort, they do grip the head above the ear. This can get uncomfortable at times, but just rub your temples and put them back on. Even without the foam they're still comfortable on the ear. I've travelled the world with these headphones and I wouldn't leave home without them. Best buy ever.
