3.0 out of 5 stars Good Enough at Low Volume, June 20, 2008
By
This review is from: Sony MDR-G75LW Street Style Neckband Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased this mainly because I wanted a comfortable neckband headphone -- in this regard it's okay. Sonically, it's slightly better than the stock earphones that come with ipods, zunes, etc... but it doesn't really compare to a similarly priced/sized Sennheiser PX100 or even the much cheaper Koss KSC75.

The bass is there, details are good enough to enjoy at midrange, and the soundstage is decent enough for me. Now for the bad: transparency is significantly worse compared to the PX100, timbre sucks, and worst yet... the sound starts to saturate at mid-volume. To put it in perspective, on a volume scale of 1 to 10, the Sony starts to lose sonic details at around 6 while the Sennheiser PX100 will retain its sonic quality up to 10!

I guess this headphone is good enough for casual use at low volume listening.

Other headphones I own: Sennheiser HD650, HD595, HD497, PX100, Koss KSC75, UE Super.fi5 Pro, Panasonic RP-HC500, etc...

5.0 out of 5 stars Portable quality sound at last, April 18, 2008

This review is from: Sony MDR-G75LW Street Style Neckband Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
Folds into a size small enough for any pocket with my Cowon D2. Clarity is good, nice range and bass is deep for the size. Doesn't make you feel like you're missing anything like most portable headphones. Much better sounding than my MDR-g52g and they stay on well enough to go running with. Padding is much improved over most open-air Sony headphones. For the price I hope they are durable and the cord is thin but covered by some fabric weave.
Perfect for people who wish they could fit quality sound into their pockets without 6ft. cord and massive cans to draw attention. I have Sennheiser 202's that sound slighty better, but are a hassle to bring along.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic Headphones, December 11, 2010

These are easily some of the coolest headphones I've ever purchased. I originally bought them because I was looking for a relatively cheap pair of running headphones, and these seemed to be the best bang for your buck. Despite the fact that they're great for running, they're simply amazing headphones that cannot only fold up for easy storage, but feature a very convenient retractable cord. The one nitpick I have though, is the cord is on the left ear, so if you like to keep your mp3 in your right pocket, the wire is going to have to cross over in front of you. Not a deal breaker by any means, but worth mentioning in case anyone out there is obsessively cord compulsive.

If you're not an audiophile and are looking for a great pair of everyday headphones, these are definitely worth a shot.

Did I mention that they have a retractable cord?
