I received these headphones about 2 months ago for my birthday, and have already outlasted most of the other headphones I have used. I listen to music 24/7 on my Zune HD, and I naturally wear most headphones down after the first month to month and a half; 2-3 months if I'm lucky. Also, as a person who spends most of his time listening to music, experimenting with new headphones and earbuds, I have learned to be able to tell the difference between good and bad headphones. These are by far some of the best. The sound quality is immaculate: good volume control (it comes with a volume controller on the cord, and which is very convenient for running, walking, etc.), and the bass is above par. Also, the noise reduction is amazing. The comfort is great: the earbuds fit nicely into any ear, and come with three pairs of color-coded sizes. And, most importantly to me, is the great durability. I already know these headphones are going to last me well into their 4th month. The earbuds are extremely durable and are thick and tough. The convenient bag provides extra protection. Don't ask how, but mine managed to get soaked in a pool of bubble liquid a week ago. I simply dried them off with a paper towel, let them sit in my pocket for a good 30 minutes, and they still had the same great sound quality; no evidence of crackling or cutting/shorting out. The cord is high quality, and doesn't kink or cling to fabrics. All in all, this is just a great pair of headphones, and you should definitely buy them.

The sound through the earbuds are not as loud as I would like, but they are MUCH more comfortable than the ones that originally came with the iPod. They also screen out external noise pretty well, so be careful if you are using them in situations where you might need to pay attention to your surroundings!

The ear buds sound fine but after about 14 months of light use one ear bud lost its sound. If I wiggle the wire around the sound comes back until I let go of the wire. I am an engineer and it looks to me that there is no strain protection on the wires going into the earbuds and this why they develop connection problems.

I have a Sony iPod with the standard earbuds that come with it and could not garden outside with them - the cord was too long and got tangled on everything it seemed, they would fall out of my ears frequently, they were an uncomfortable fit, and with garden gloves on it was very hard to impossible to adjust the volume on the iPod itself.

These earbud headphones work better. First, you can pick from three sizes that come in the package to see which one fits your ear the best. There is an option to order an even smaller size, but this would be very small! Second, you can adjust to some extent the length of the cords so they are not hanging all about your person as much and getting tangled in gardening/cleaning tools. Third, the volume control, once you have set it on your iPod to a certain volume, does work. It will not turn up the volume all the way if you have your iPod on a very low volume. It seems to have a "range". If they are in your ears and fit well, the sound is quite good. Note: I am not a musician.

For the price I recommend them. I know there are more expensive ones out there, which I have never tried. If you are doing active things outside, or even things like heavy cleaning in the house, it makes sense to have earbuds that are decent, but you won't have to spend a lot of money to replace if you break them by mistake! I have used mine several times and am pleased with them.

My favorite pair of value ear buds is still the Creative EP-630. Without the ability to purchase them locally, however, I decided to try a pair of Sony buds instead. When I first put them in, I was surprised at how comfortable they were. They didn't FEEL like they were pressing up against my ear canal, but when I tilted my head and shook it, they didn't budge in the least. That being said, the "seal" is a very soft one. There is no moment of equalizing pressure in your canal, and some of the sound does bleed out from the housing. Ir you're going to turn your audio up all the way, those closest to you are likely to hear it in areas where ambient noise is limited.

The actual sound is best described as "expansive." I tested several different types of tracks. A Lord of the Rings track from Howard Shore sounded lush and full; a Neko Case track sounded like it was recorded in a barn (which it was). The bass is not as deep as some other earbuds, but it is competent. The mids and highs are nice and clear, and after a very poor experience with the Maxell Timber line, which sounded muddy and washed out, the music sounds unfiltered here. I also tested the buds against the film Iron Man on an iPod, and they held up well to the myriad explosions and sound effects. Nothing was lost in the mix.

Other reviewers have mentioned that the volume doesn't seem to top out as high as on other ear buds. This does seem to be the case here. The audio gets loud, but it doesn't hit that eardrum-rattling high that you may be used to. In my case, it simply meant removing the top volume lock on my iPod, as the very highest setting no longer hurts my ears. I do not know if it is related to the volume slider, which is nice to have when your audio device is tucked away.
