Finally, someone got the clip design right,

Okay, headphones are a pain in the a$$! Trust me, you need to go through thousands to find the right ones. Let's get on with the review!
Sound Quality (4/5) - The sound quality on these is far by good. The bass is very deep, not too deep, but having bass too deep IS a problem (can't hear anything but BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!). If you wanna hear deep bass, put pressure on these. Feel discomfort from the clip and have a headache for the amount of bass. Congrats! You've become an idiot! Anyway, the volume on these is quite loud, but not quite as loud as Sony's h.ear, but the treble is better. Who says you can have it all (if you've ever heard anyone tell you that you can have it all, please hit their head with a shovel)? Comfort (5/5) - Now, if you read the packaging (which contains someone who looks a lot like Jennifer Lopez, btw), it states things about comfort. Well, those are in fact all true. These headphones are VERY comfortable, and at times I can't notice they're on. Definite 5 stars in comfort. Design (3/5) - Ok, design is good and awful. Let me break it down: Good: - The cord is long. Why good: This would be good for people using these for computering, studio monitoring, video/music editing, things that NEED a long cord. - The cord is made with strong plastic. Why good: This would be good for bike or ATV riding. Cords get damaged from being hit with a helmet, or just in the air. This is perfect for that, and other similar rough activities. - The plug is gold plated. Why good: This would be good for most audiophiles and people (freaks) who detail every little thing in every song. Gold plated plugs also seem to be louder than silver plugs. - The hook is a spring hook. Why good: For people with elf ears (pointy ears), this will make it easier to fit on. Bad: - The hook is a spring hook. Why bad: This is the biggest negative of this headphone. The spring hook, makes the speaker go away from the ear, taking out bass and volume that all those audiophiles (and freaks) just love. Why else is this bad: This also make it leak sound. This is a pain for people listening to loud music, which make a little distraction for people sitting next to you (like a bus, or classroom, or a public place). Features (5/5) - Yay! A positive! The features on the w.ear are pretty great. Firstly, the interchangeable covers is a nice touch, and there are blue and silver to choose from. The silver sure looks nice next to my SLCT582V, and the blue would look nice on more colored objects (such as a bright colored CD player, Sony's new PSYC players to be specific). As I said, the spring clip is a big positive and a big negative. So yeah, there may be only two features, but these are headphones, you're not getting a thousand features on them. Portability (5/5) - Ok, pictures mean nothing. Yeah, their "clip design". That's what I like to call advertising. Not all clip designs are slim, but that is what Sony and the picture are making you think. Even though these DO happen to be very slim, fair warning. Anyway, these are very slim. Slimmer than my slim design CD player. So, these are very portable. Price (4/5) - The price for these are surely not a bargain, but they aren't overpriced. The price is set about just right. Most headphones with these features would be also around the $20 mark. Who they might be for: These headphones would be for people who aren't TOO picky about audio quality, but still want decent sound from them. People who might be using them for long periods of time, or have small-normal sized ears. Maybe for people using computers, or for studio monitoring of some such (but you will need to buy an adapter). People may want to consider these for durability, for maybe people doing sports, bike/ATV riding, or other rough activities. These may be good for people who are using these in not-so-public places, but still travel a lot, or even for home usage. These would be good for people who like interchangeable covers and style. In my opinion, these overall deserve 4 stars. They aren't exactly perfect, but they're damn there close.

Look Good, Fit Good, Sound Good,

Earbuds are totally uncomfortable for me, especially since I wear my headphones hours at a time at work. Sony's earhook headphones are the perfect solution - they sit outside the ear but don't have a clumsy plastic bar going across or behind your head. You can switch the caps from metallic blue to silver (Sony also has a pair available from Amazon with a white cord and white or green caps to match the white iPods) and in 2 years I've never had a cap fall off.
Personally, I find the fit comfortably snug, not too tight, not so far from your ear you lose sound. But ultimately fit will vary from person to person, ear to ear. The sound itself is good quality - surprisingly so for non-noise cancelling headphones - and amazing for the price! I like the right connected to the left headphone design, making it so the wire hangs behind your neck instead of in a v across your chest. I find this design keeps the wires out of the way while I'm working, (just situate the wire behind your arm/shoulder instead of in front). This is true whether you keep the player in a pocket, or clipped to your collar like I do. It sounds like runners may have a problem with this design though ... One draw back is the long cord - I have to untangle it everytime I put it on. It would be great if Sony could put out a version with a reel to pick up the slack. But still, it's the best practical alternative I've found to earbuds.

JUST what I was looking for!,

I was considering not buying these headphones because of the negative reviews I read on this page, but was tempted by the price and figured I'd return them if I wasn't satisfied. I needn't even have worried.
First off, these are quite possibly the most comfortable heaphones you will ever wear. I often forget that I'm wearing them at all... er, just don't don them while wearing lots of earcuffs. Secondly, the sound is just perfect. It's clear, though not extremely bassy, and crisp. What's more, the design allows me to hear outside noises fairly well, so I can tell if a car is coming or if someone is calling my name. These are the only clip-on headphones I have ever worn where I prefer the sound they normally give over the sound when I press them closer to my ears. Last of all, these headphones are, well, pretty. They're silver with a strong silver cord and optional dark blue plates to accent them with. I highly recommend them to you.

Great for night wear,

After trying many pairs of headphones, these have been by far the best. I enjoy using these while falling asleep at night. They're super comfortable. I never feel like they're pinching or squishing my ears, yet they stay on nicely. They're very durable. I've broken a few similar designed headphones, but these have held up nicely.
They are not noise-cancelling, but that's what I wanted, since I still want to be able to hear other noises.

Great portable/exercise phones,
By
This review is from: Sony MDRQ22LP Ear Clip (Electronics)
Convenient, tiny, secure-fitting, super-comfortable. Very decent sound quality for this price-range, too.
I recently changed to using Koss KSC-75 clip ons, which sound significantly better, but are a little fussy to get fitting properly and aren't as secure and comfortable. Ultimately, I prefer the Koss clip-ons for the better sound, but these are probably a better option for exercise or for long-term wearing. UPDATE: I recently bought a second pair of the Sonys after my Koss clip-ons started cutting out in one ear. They don't really take the abuse that I give a set of portable 'phones. For a cheap, decent sounding pair to use at a desk, the Koss are still a good choice, but if you're going to be sticking them in pockets or backpacks, etc, I don't think they're durable enough. And yes, the Koss do sound better than the Sonys, but I'll just have to compromise for portable use.

Most comfortable headphones I've ever had,
By
This review is from: Sony MDRQ22LP Ear Clip (Electronics)
These are probably the most comfortable headphones I've ever tried. They slip on over the ear, and you almost forget they are there. Sound quality is pretty decent for $15 dollar headphones, they're actually than the $40 dollar KOSS headphones I had before these. I broke my first set, and promptly replaced them, and this set has lasted me for over 4 years of very heavy abuse. They tend to act like a set of weights, and when one falls the other goes with it twice as hard. I've run over the cord with my computer chair, sat on them, accidentally doused them in water, and a whole other variety of hazards. And through all that, they work as well as they day I bought them.
I have absolutely no issue with these headphones except maybe that they're kind of bland looking. It still doesn't stop them from being the best bargain I've ever purchased. And this is coming from a guy who basically avoids buying anything Sony. Highly recommended for cheap travel headphones.

Addicted to these headphones,
By
This review is from: Sony MDRQ22LP Ear Clip (Electronics)
The perfect headphones! (Almost.) I've bought these exact brand of headphones 4 times, and I'm about to buy them a 5th. Why? Well, I'm extremely picky about headphones. I often wear baseball caps, so the plastic band over my head with old-style headphones is inconvenient. I grew up wearing those and am basically sick of that design. They also get in the way of my glasses. My ears must be some mutant shape totally incompatible with all earbuds. I refuse to wear them. The sound quality is so poor with earbuds I'm constantly fiddling with them to keep them where I want in my ears. The expensive "noise-canceling" types are no good for people on the go, and in my case they get too sweaty and hot to wear comfortably (I often wear headphones when walking briskly). You can hear the suction when I take those big ol' headphones off. I've even tried a knock-off brand of these with a similar clip, but the plastic clip on other manufacturer's brands is harder and very irritating to me. These headphones are perfect from a comfort standpoint as they fit on my ears and allow them to breathe. I can easily slip one off if someone is talking to me and I need to hear them. I can clip the headphones to my shirt if I need to take them off for an extended period of time.
The only drawback is durability. The first pair was lying on the floor (my fault) and my girlfriend vacuumed up the cord. Snap! The earphone part broke right off. I was a little annoyed, but then I started to panic when I had trouble finding that particular model in retail stores. Thank goodness for Amazon. We managed to get another pair, and at the same time I bought a pair for her brother's birthday because I like them so much. My 2nd set bit the dust when I was careless with the cord in a supermarket. The earphone part got pulled off while I was shoppping. The cord was dangling from my pocket and got snagged on the automatic door. Pop! The next pair got sucked into my retractable dog leash. I spent 20 minutes trying to untangle it before I finally gave up and walked my dog. There was another one in there, but I can't remember what happened to them. It wasn't pretty. That makes 4 times so far, plus one as a gift. So, the durability is a factor. They do get tangled a lot. You can't really wrap them up for storage without them getting tangled somehow. However, I'm willing to put up with that because for me, ear comfort comes way way way ahead of the rest of the annoyances that go along with those headphones. I've been doing without since the last pair died, and I even bought another knock-off version of that headphone from another manufacturer, but it just isn't the same. This time, I'm placing an order for multiple sets because it appears Sony is not going to continue stocking it in stores. If you can put up with some minor tangling, I'd highly recommend them in terms of sound quality and comfort. Now that they are getting to be an older model, the price is coming down, too. I'll admit there are some drawbacks, but I've never been more satisfied in terms of ear comfort than with these headphones. They are great in the gym if you are picky about hearing your music or talk uninterrupted, because the clip keeps them where they are supposed to be. That's of utmost importance to me. Good luck!

Forget the negative,

These earphones are great. The sound is not too bass-laden and you achieve great sounds while being able to hear outside noises. I have no problem keeping them on my ears, and the reason why the cord that leads from one earphone to another then to whatever unit you're using them with is so long is because I believe Sony meant for us to have the option to run the cord behind our necks, so that it's not hanging under one's chin. Forget the naysayers, these earphones are just the right fit for my lifestyle.

Sound - I've had these headphones for well over 3 years now and they still sound just as good as they did when they were new...not that they sounded fantastic when they were new, but for the mainstream music listener, they should be more than adequate. 3/5
Durability - The sound may not have changed, but after all this use, the condition is pretty bad. I've lost all but one of the interchangable caps, the padding has worn so thin that it has several holes, and the cord has gotten tangled so many times that it's naturally curly. Some of this is my fault, but I usually try to take care of my things. I do have to give it props for lasting this long though. 4/5 Comfort - They were actually pretty comfortable for my humongous ears. They're very light, but not the point that you don't notice your wearing them. The padding is a little thin, but it doesn't really need to be much thicker. They weren't all that great for sleeping with though. I go to sleep with them alright, but when I wake up in the morning, the headphones will be in a tangled mess next to me and my ears will be sore. 3/5 Overall, if you plan on getting a set of headphones that will stay in good shape for at least a couple of years, then go for something else. To be honest, the only reason I still use these is because I'm cheap...and I don't have a job...but hey, I'm 15, give me a break.

Very comfy, great sound, but not high in privacy.,
By Texas Girl "Book Lover" (Texas) - See all my reviews

I have had the most difficult time finding headphones to use with my Ipod. I have tried just about every brand/ type of hook phone without much luck. Since my ears are small, the buds that came with my Ipod would not stay in my ear and when I could manage to cram them in, they hurt! These earphones are comfy, stay in place, offer a great rich sound, but also allow anyone within ear shot to listen to your music as well. If you are walking in a crowded area where this isn't a problem, great! BUT, if you are trying to use these in a smaller gym or on any public transportation, you will need to kick the sound down considerably unless you don't mind sharing your play list with anyone nearby. This isn't a huge concern for me since I only use them to walk/jog around my neighborhood, but I could see this being a problem for any other type of consumer.
