Its not worth even $1,
This review is from: Sony MDRRF920RK 900 MHz Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
I can't believe how this headphone which can't recieve clear sound even in 2 feet distance from its transmitter can be thrown on the market. I did everything but I couldnt solve the static noise problem.
There is a part which says 'Up to 150-foot transmission range with manual frequency tuning/reception' in this headphones manual and Amazon's 'product details' part. When I decide to return this headphone, on Amazon's page about the returning reasons, there were no choices like `wrong information for the product'. The closest was `The product is not as I expect'. Thats why, now I have to pay for delivery for the product which is good-for-nothing.

All the negative reviews are correct. Why I did not check Amazon before I bought them in a shop I'll never know. I'm stuck with these headphones that are pretty much useless. For one they ruin the enjoyment of music because of all the static. You maybe sitting only a couple of feet away from the transmitter but turn your head this or that way and it's all over. I cannot get a good clean clear signal. I can't believe how bad the wireless technology is with this product. Forget walking about the house with these. I can't get a good signal when I'm sitting next to the transmitter! No matter at what volume I have the things set at it's just not acceptable to be hearing all pops, static and hiss.
Also if no audio signal is detected after a few minutes they'll turn off - when this happens you'll be blasted with a wall of loud static white noise. Not good. As a side note it's a real fiddle to get the things back into the cradle and lined up so they'll charge. Yuck. Avoid at all costs.

I wanted headphones to use with my guitar amp. and home theater system at home.I was reluctant to try wireless systems because I had negative experiences before, but then I thought hey, wireless headphones have been around long enough to achieve the level of sophistication. Well I was wrong. There is no way to totally eliminate the noise in these headphones, even so close to the transmitter. (I made several tests, making sure no object was interfering) .The slightest noise in headphones is enough to bother users, so wireless headphones is an area that requires absolute perfection. Bottom line, this set does not provide that. I'm wondering if bluetooth or higher frequencies have resolved the issue, but yet they're expensive. For now, I will extend my wired headphone cord.
Another problem is placing the headphone on the charger, it requires some attention and skills...

These headphones should not even be on the market.
They are horrible even sitting directly in front of the transmitter. I would disconntinue this item and if I was smart I would have returned them. Norm

The automatic shut off of power battery charger are great features.
But the sound fades in and out and is rather flat.

I received my Sony MDRRF920RK headphones today even after reading all those reviews. I don't even want to give them 1 star rating that I have given. Following are some things that I have noticed in one day of usage.
1. There are hiss/pop/screach sounds coming from headphones very often. 2. Battery takes 16 hours to fully charge. 3. You can not use any other battery (that you might have charged faster). 4. The adaptor is 120 volts input and 9 volts output. God help you if you are going to a country that uses 220-240 volt. Nowadays every appliance comes with 110-240 volts input range, but sony doesn't seem to follow the standard. 5. The power and audio cords given with the system are really small you can't even keep the transmitter on your desk if you are keeping you PC on ground. 6. Putting headpones on charger can be very clumsy. Avoid these headphones at all costs.

Not bad!,

I happened to place the order before reading all the negative feedback: so got worried after reading'em.
However, my experience so far (15 days) is positive: Pros: 1) good build quality 2) auto on-off for the head phones 3) charging stops automatically (the green LED goes off) 4) decent Range: not exactly 150 ft, but 50 ft is what I would say, with walls in between. Beyond that, noise increased, but still it was ok. [I am using with noise filtered turned off!] 5) good acoustics (compared to price) Cons 1)Charging position (not a major one, IMHO) 2)proprietary batteries ! 3)short cord to connect the base to audio source

What everyone else is saying is exactly right. I have these headphones less than three feet from the receiver and there is such bad static I can't even use them! I have messed with the tuning for days, but am just giving up. What a letdown.

Loyal Sony customer rates this UNBELIEVALBY BAD,
This review is from: Sony MDRRF920RK 900 MHz Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
I've bought Sony products for years. They have been my prefered choice for products. But these headphones were completely JUNK. I'm stunned by how bad this product is.
The reviewer who wrote it's not worth $1 is right. Sound quality is horrible. There is an unbelievable amount of hissing noise. It's VERY VERY BAD. You actually have to turn your head to tune in the signal like an old pair of rabbit ears, else the hiss is louder than the actual audio you are trying to listen to. And I don't own a single wireless product that would cause signal interference. It's simply an unbelievably bad product. I'm still in shock. I simply can't get any use out of this product. Add to that, the headphones, while looking very stylish, has trouble connecting with its own recharger. When you put the headphones in its cradle, it has difficulty getting the two metal prongs on the base to align with the metal contacts on the headphones. Often it won't go in. The metal prongs usually gets caught in the grove between the plastic and the ear padding which is half a milimeter away from the metal contacts. DO NOT BUY THIS. There must be some problem with the quality control on this product line. Lotsa duds are being produced. |
