Amazing quality and features at such a low price point!,
This review is from: Sony MEX-BT2600 Bluetooth CD Receiver (Electronics)
I bought this receiver for two key features: MP3 CD playback and Bluetooth connectivity. At $170 at BestBuy, I was a little worried that the Bluetooth feature would not be all that great. The microphone is on the unit itself, no special attachment like the higher end Pioneer ones have that clip onto the visor.
Well I had nothing to worry about because the Bluetooth feature works like a charm! While driving I tested it out both on the streets and on the freeway and the person on the other end could hear me just fine. They did say that you could tell it was like a speakerphone type sound, but it was very audible and understandable and much better than the MotoT305 and MOTO T505 I had tested out prior. The T505 had a lot of potential since it clips on the visor and has an FM transmitter, but it was a little cumbersome to use and my caller said the Sony receiver call sounded much better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

For the price this Sony Reciever is top of the line. I bought mine a few months ago because I needed a new stereo for my Jeep and I was browsing around and saw this one. I love the fact that it has bluetooth and a built in mic for handsfree calling. Not to mention the fact that it plays seemless music with my iPhone with NO WIRES!!.
When a call comes in you definitly know it, and you just hit the main control button on the reciever to answer its that simple. If I'm playing wireless music it automatically switched over to the call and switches back when the call is over. If your phone can do voice dialing you can load that information into the reciever for voice calling your contacts. Not to mention its an Xplod. I had one in my first vehicle and loved it, and I love this one. I put my Sony MEXBT2600 through a durablilty test by putting it in my 4x4 jeep wrangler and it really holds up to some punishment. anyway i highly recommend this product.

I got this item refurbished by Sony for about $62. So far, it works as expected. I have the LG VX8700 from Verizon and called up people using the Bluetooth. No one complained about the sound. I also tested the MP3 and WMA capability and it plays almost all my files including Chinese songs. Of course, the only problem is that it can't display unicode characters but I'm satified. By the way, you can detached the face plate but it doesn't include a case for it. I wish they would include it. Otherwise, it is a solid product.

Terrible Bluetooth,

I purchased this because I wanted a stereo with built in bluetooth for handsfree phone calls. I could not make or receive any calls while in my car because the microphone barely worked. Anyone I talked to reported hearing lots of background noise and they could barely hear me at all.
There is no way to connect and external microphone. So no solution by way of closer mic placement to your mouth is available I would steer anyone I could away from this one.

I had this radio installed about 2 weeks ago. It sounds good, no real complaints. you have to read the manual a little bit to get the hang of setting the stations, clock etc. I dont really use the blue tooth. the only thing i noticed is that that volume knob doesnt stick out very far so you cant really get your fingers around it. and you sorta have to giggle the face plate off

It seems like a decent unit, the sound is OK and the controls are not horrible. there are some quirks in the features though. the display dim is controlled from the system its self, there is no wire connected to the head lights or the dash dimmer switch. also, if you dim the display, it only dims the display, not the rest of the lighted controls. the lights are always on if the ignition is on, even if the unit is off. if you don't turn the display mode off it will scroll an advertisement every 4 seconds so be aware of that when you install it.
When I pair up the bluetooth with my phone I get no sound at all from the speakers. I am using an LG VX8350 which is on the list of supported devices, it pairs just fine but I get no sound when making a call or from the streaming audio.

This receiver has a very disappointing Bluetooth telephone connection. People on the other end of the line cannot understand the conversation clearly. It is not possible to have a reasonable conversation through this radio. The tuner is below average, I get clear reception with my Pioneer Stereo that I have in the other car while I get noise interruption with this radio. Spare yourself some diappointment.... I returned this radio!

I've really enjoyed this stereo. It makes life very easy, jump in the car and the phone is connected to the stereo. I don't have to worry about recharging any batteries or connecting any wires to my phone. The mic in the unit has a high and low level setting right on the front panel and it sounds good to anyone that I have called so far. The voice dial on my Nokia phone work great through the stereo.
Bluetooth stereo on my wife's Blackberry is just about the same as an FM station, the aux input is much better. The CD full of MP3's is the easiest. I knocked off one star for the detachable face plate. I prefer the flip down faceplate to the removable one. I would also like Sony to have the song title constantly scroll through the display like on WinAMP but that's just my personal preference.

Sony MEXBT2600,

Replaced OEM headunit in a 1994 BMW 325i. Unit fit perfectly out of the box. When first installed, radio had sound but CD did not. Contacted SONY customer support website and found correct solution: switch AMP REM and ANT REM wires. Sound quality is excellent with factory speakers. Bluetooth phone works with a Treo 755, although mic is a bit muffled even on hi gain. Have not tried BT audio. Only weaknesses so far: 1) Unit has front Aux input but no rear Aux input (must use XA-C40 or bypass bus control), 2) No volume adjustment for CD (Aux and phone have volume adjustments). Otherwise, exactly what I needed: In-dash CD receiver with BT and Aux input at a competitive price.

i wanted an easy-to-use-while-driving new stereo, and bluetooth to match my old samsung phone. * i really like the blue lights, and it's easy to use while driving. the lights are on the main buttons, and each push button for tuner button. i like the volume knob, the old fashioned kind that is easy to turn, not a small button to try to find while driving. * not all bluetooth phones are compatible with this unit, but my old motorola v360 synced with it. * it was easy to answer the phone when hooked up - just hit the volume button. * had it installed, and had to pay extra twice to have the different phones synced to the stereo. found out later it's easy to do, and i could have done it myself and saved a buncha money and time and trouble taking it to best buy to do. * bad thing is, when using the phone bluetooth-wise, no one could understand me. some said i sounded like i was talking under water. i could hear them ok, but not greatly. i finally gave up on that part of it. * found out the microphone for the stereo is on the BACK of the stereo! how in the world could they expect anyone could hear well with it behind the dash?!? there is no connection to plug in an extra microphone to near the driver's area. * i wouldn't buy this unit again, as i really wanted to be able to talk and drive without using the phone. i'd buy one with a microphone on the OUTSIDE of the unit, and a plug if an external mic was to be used.
