For $119.00 you can't go wrong. I can see the display fine. The only con I can find is the EQ is ROCK, FLAT , MP3. That kind of stuff I like more control with my EQ. Sony makes some of the best audio sound on the market for the price. If your a low end buyer stick to sony and only sony.

I purchased this system for my home art studio. The size is great, fits on a small shelf. I like that it has a remote. The iPod dock is easy to use and conveniently folds up when not in use.
The sound is adequate for my purposes. And the price was exactly right. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this system.

Decent sound for the price and the Ipod dock is nice. However, there is no alt input despite the description and despite the fact that Sony says it's there. Other than that it's working just fine.

Great iPod dock that BUMPS!!,
This review is from: Sony MHC-EC69i Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System (Electronics)
I have replaced all of the big CD/AM FM radios in my home with smaller iPod docks and have been pleased with them, until I realized that they just weren't loud enough. I wanted an iPod dock with deep bass, one that I could hear from all the rooms in my house, and one loud enough for when we have people over. This one does everything that I wanted. The sound is superior, and the bass really bumps. You can work your iPod with the remote, which is really cool. Has several sound modes and to me the MP3 Surround Sound mode is the best. CD player and radio work fine but I hardly use them. Charge and play your iPod at the same time. Finally, I have a iPod sound system loud enough to annoy my neighbors!

Not for use with iPhone and or streaming music.,
This review is from: Sony MHC-EC69i Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System (Electronics)
I bought this to use in my shop. I use pandora.com (from my iPhone 4) 100% to listen to music.
The sound of the radio is great. But every so often I would get loud popping noises from the speakers. It sounded like morse code. It would happen every 5 minutes to 15 minutes. It would last from 5 seconds to 10 seconds. It was very loud and very annoying. After a bit of research I found out that my iPhone was the cause of the problem. It was causing interference because of the signal from the phone. I tested this out by moving the phone away, while playing pandora, when the popping sound started. The nasty sound would lessen and finally stop if I put the phone far enough away(just a few feet), and come right back when I moved the iPhone closer. Long story short, do not buy this if you plan on using your iPhone or iPod to stream music through wifi or your phone network. Very, very bad design flaw considering this is made to use with an iPod/iPhone. I would of kept it and just used a 'line-in' cord to keep my iPhone far enough away to not have the static, but of course this radio dosn't have a single line-in port. Just bad. Re-boxed and returned for something better.

Great Sound for a Small Price!,

Bought this system for my Work Out Rm. It has decent sound, plenty of volume for a 15'x 20' room. I only listen to I-Pod or CD's. Sound quality isn't what you'd get with a component system, but for a few more than a $100, it was well worth it. When playing CD's the readout shows the album & song name, which a lot of shelf systems don't.

problem with the CD player,

We were away when the set was delivered, so have had it for a couple of weeks before we put it to use. Radio works great, programmed and all. The CD driver, however, won't play through a disc - sticks repeatedly on discs that play on other drivers without problem. Had to call the vendor (Abt, in Illinois) for guidance. Still have to call Sony for instructions for repair etc. A major annoyance and we have already disposed of the shipping box. Also, this is described as a mini stereo system but it's really quite large.

Love the Sound,

So the question is....if I love the sound, why only 3 stars? I have an older Sony bookshelf stereo with "analog" knobs, etc. that sounds great and is easy to use. The controls for this model are digital....it's very hard to read the display where we have the stereo "perched"...the display should be larger and much brighter and I continually refer to the instructions in order to use the remote....it's not very intuitive. Since I purchased a "refurbished" model, I thought that perhaps the reason for the return by the original purchaser was a defect in the display, since it isn't very bright..and that perhaps it wasn't replaced during refurbishing process...but now I believe that Sony simply designed and produced it that way, although I'm not absolutely sure of this...it could be defective since I haven't another system to compare it with. It's OK if used as a CD player, but using the remote for FM radio, etc. does not work very well since I can't make out what is being displayed. I vastly prefer the older model. That being said....the sound is excellent for its size.
