4.0 out of 5 stars A very nice piece
This is a very quality CD player utility. It is (on a price/performance ratio the best.) it is the perfect medium in CD players. Not too expensive, not too poor. I would reccomend it to anyone who wants a CD player they will probably still have to leave to thier children.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound--bad remote
I'll start off with the good features: The sound quality is amazing..tight bass, good trebble and overall clear sound. A myriad of EQ functions for music + video sources and bass controls are included. Nice Graphic EQ, too! Tons of other features. The unit is a cinch to setup.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound--bad remote, June 9, 2000

This review is from: Sony MHC-RXD10AV Home Theater Compact Stereo System (Electronics)
I'll start off with the good features: The sound quality is amazing..tight bass, good trebble and overall clear sound. A myriad of EQ functions for music + video sources and bass controls are included. Nice Graphic EQ, too! Tons of other features. The unit is a cinch to setup.

However, almost all problems stem from the lack of functions on the remote! Look at the "See more pictures" section and see how small it actually is! My main problems with it are that you cannot set the wakeup/shutdown timers from the remote: you must do it on the unit using its jog dial and buttons. It's not possible to display remaining time left on the track or CD from the remote either. You can't directly specify which disc you want to play, but you must press the disc skip button until you get to the one you want (not too big of a problem on a 3 disc unit, but still a minor annoyance). There are too many buttons on the front of the unit and I still haven't figured out what they all do yet! I really wish the system was a little more remote control-centered so I don't have to keep getting up and going across the room to change something.

With the unit comes plenty of speaker wire for the rear speakers, but I wish there was more for the front + center channels.

I'd give this unit 4 stars if the remote were just a bit more featured, but it really drags down my rating.
