Good Bedroom or Shop Unit,
By
This review is from: Sony MHCGX99 Mini Hi-Fi Component System with 3-Disc CD Changer and Powered Subwoofer (Electronics)
Radio has good channel separation and good sound on FM. I use it in my office.Things I liked: It has super power (enough to run you out of the room). The remote is easy to use Plays MP3 on the cd player Price was fair for the sound quality. Some of the things I wish it had but doesn't: 1. More inputs, there is only one mini-plug input. I have a tape deck, and stream from my computer but there is no input for the tape machine. 2. Tuneable EQ...Equalizer is pre-configured for five or so different options. There's no way to tweak it further. I wish there was a way I could add more highs. 3. Sub woofer doesn't turn off when the unit is off. It's plugged into a different outlet and stays on all the time. I listen to this every day in the office and it's great for that purpose.

All right, I'll get the token complaint out of the way, as I agree with everyone else. Where's my adjustable EQ? Having said that, this is like a real stereo. Time will tell if it lasts as long as my old one (only like 18-19 years). Now it doesn't take much to be better than my old system, but this allows for a great, full sound. The songs actually sound like they're supposed to. And it's been put through its paces in the short time I've owned it. Public Enemy, Enigma, Van Halen, Queensryche, et cetera. They all sound awesome through this. I actually listen to a little bit of everything musically, and so far, nothing has sounded bad through this. I personally have just left it on the 'rock' EQ setting as it seems to give the fullest sound of the bunch. And the volume...WOW. LOL Keep this thing under 15 and your neighbors will like you. I kid. It gets plenty loud though in the 15-20 range. I know it is hard to realize how loud this is without actually hearing it, but trust me, it's 530 total watts. It'll do fine for a standard house sytem.

The "Dorm Room" Theatre,
This review is from: Sony MHCGX99 Mini Hi-Fi Component System with 3-Disc CD Changer and Powered Subwoofer (Electronics)
I use this system in my dorm room, and I really have no complaints. It has more than enough sound to fill the entire room, and the quality isn't bad at all.Pros: Good quality sound Not bulky Attractive Low Price Very Intuitive Cons: Only one input (3.5mm, I believe) For the amount you spend, you are surely getting your money's worth. I would expect this performance from a system that costs twice this much. A great buy!
