So I ordered the 8GB memory card from a retailer on Amazon. It came in, and everything looked as it should. Then as I started to use it in my Video camera, I was getting error messages and data corruption issues. I did some searching around on the internet and I found that the error is usually do to counterfeit memory cards. So I looked on the page and they gave a great list of things to look for. Biggest giveaway that mine was not really from Sony: * There was no product information paper on the inside in several languages * The UPC had MSX-M8GST/X, the valid UPC does not have the "T/X" at the end, and the actual number under the UPC was for a 1GB memory card. * Obviously the bad performance of the card.
I talked with Amazon, and got the seller to refund my money and I ordered it directly from Amazon. When I looked at the two packages side by side, there was an obvious difference. On the card, the print was very faded (and incorrect) versus the legit card.
So the card itself is great, but buyer beware of the fakes. Here is a good article that talks about spotting fakes: [...]

I'm totally dissapointed, i bought two Sony MSXM8GS 8 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Retail Package)from two different sellers, and they are fake totally fake, i wrote to the sellers and they said that they can't do anithing about, this is so bad, that this people be allowed to sell in Amazon, since they are fooling people, and taking our money just that easy, i tought that since was Amazon, this things would not happen, i was wrong, now i'm afraid to buy any other thing, cause i don't know if i'm going to get what i bought.....

if you are buying this for a psp, then YES IT WORKS! It is awesome! People are saying that its slow loading movies, but I've had no problems. I had more wait time loading movies on my 4gb then on the 8. Have no doubt this is the real deal, an 8gb for the psp. movies/pictures/songs can hold it all!!

Verrryyy Niiiccee as Borat would say, this product rocks. 8 gigs is huge for a PSP or digital camera. I use mine for my PSP and I have 3 movies, about 250 songs, 1000 pictures, every demo game made and all of my game saves and downloaded content on the stick! It is excellent, however it is not quite as fast as my old 4 Gig Sandisk card, but you really only notice when opening the videos folder and while transferring from a PC. It is still fairly quick and I definitely recommend getting one if $200 sounds like a good deal to you!

I have two of these 8GB babies and use one in my PSP Slim and the other in my Sony VAIO UX280P micro PC. On the PSP I loaded 5GB with movies and TV as well as my favorite MP3s, and leave over 2GB for game saves. The speed of the memory stick on both devices (the PSP and the UX280P) is quite good. (Sony also sells "high-speed" cards with red markings, which are about 50% faster but also 50% more expensive.) I don't know if this 8GB memory stick is ReadyBoost-capable on Vista; I have a 4GB version which supports ReadyBoost in my Sony FE-series laptop at work.
I own quite a number of Sony memory stick media and they've always been reliable. I've dropped them, stepped on them (actually my son did that more often), and they still work.

Well, there really is no such thing as a cheap 8GB memory stick. Considering that competitor retailers sell these for $60, it should've been a red flag when this was roughly $30. It worked fine for a few days and then my camera stopped reading the card.
And here's why: The shape and the thickness of the card didn't fit the same way into my camera like the legitimate brand. The camera reads it when I push it in just the right way and far enough, but I have to keep my thumb pressed into the card, without letting go, or the camera doesn't read the card properly. Granted, I can still use it as a storage device with a usb adapter...but am unable to take pictures with it.

With something as big and small as this is at the same time, you really can't go wrong. It meets any needs I have, including running inside of my Sony HDR-CX7 camcorder, which does require at least a certain speed for reading/writing data to the memory stick.
EDIT: As of July 20th, 2007, Amazon has the lowest price available...took them a bit to catch up, but wanted to update my review to indicate that I would definitely order this product from them and to reiterate my approval of the item.
