5.0 out of 5 stars Good fit and great sound
My favorite earbuds thus far are the Creative Labs EP-630 as those have great sound, good bass, are very comfortable, and have great noise isolation from your environment - even in airports and on planes.

I bought a pair of these Sonys today at Target (unfortunately they cost $10 more, but no shipping charge...). I was listening this afternoon, and they sound...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap But Good
Build Quality: The wires are thin and soft gives an impression of weak construction.

Size and Fit: The ear buds are small but once you get it in your ears, its very comfortable and fits well.

Sound Quality: Its average. Sounds much like the standard ear plugs that comes with whatever device. I think it sounds slightly better than the standard...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good fit and great sound, October 11, 2008
This review is from: Sony Mdr-Ex32Lp/Blk Ex Earbuds Headphones (Black) (Electronics)

I was listening this afternoon, and they sound as good as the Creative earbuds do, but with slightly better treble response - more clarity but still good bass. The default covers (size M?) fit my ears fine. The cord is also about 8 inches longer than the EP-630. If you have trouble getting them all the way into your ear, try opening your mouth very wide (so your lower jaw drops down - like when you're trying to 'pop' your eardrums to equalize) and then sticking the earbuds in (to your ears, not your mouth) and the seal will be nice and tight. There is less cord noise than with the EP-630's.

I have an iPod Nano, 2nd generation (the tall thin one), 4 GB. I usually set my EQ to 'Rock' for good sound, but sometimes use 'R&B' if a song has poor bass in the recording. At either setting these earbuds sounded great. One other note - the sound volume seems lower than with the EP-630's - I'd guess about 25% 'less loud.' All you have to do is turn up the volume, though.

Overall, the sound quality is very good, they isolate out external sounds very well, and they don't cost a ridiculous amount. I am happy with the purchase. I am picky, but there is no freakin' way I am paying $100 for a pair of headphones that could get lost, damaged or stolen. That seems crazy to me. Think of all the gas, food, earbuds, and music you could buy for that. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars I prefer these., August 12, 2008

I tend to go through lots, I mean lots of ear buds. This is due to the fact that my cats like to chew them all up if I lapse and leave them out somewhere. I have had Sennheiser, Creative, Sony and other brands. I prefer this MDR line. They have just the right natural balance of bass/trebble. They do not sound "tinny", "papery", "plasticy" or cheap. The bass is rich and powerful when connected to a good audio player like my Walkman or Creative Soundblaster card. Since my cats chew up my ear buds and I am not rich $25 is a bargain for an excellent product! I just went to my local Target and picked them up for the same price as here.

As it said in the description, It really blocks the surrounding noise so you can enjor the music. It also ensure the best fit. It is the best one you can get for $25.00.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great form factor and clarity, August 27, 2008

I purchased a bluetooth headset a while back made by JVC. The receiver is great and allows the use of other headphones via a 3.5mm audio jack. The included headphones have a VERY short cable as the receiver is generally intended to be worn attached to your shirt or pocket (makes sense, the mic is in the receiver).

However, when I'm simply looking to listen to music having the receiver right under my chin or on the side of my neck (I wear T-shirts most of the time) is annoying as it gets. So, I bought these little gems.

They're compact enough to still be able to wear them to bed, as they don't really protrude from the ear much. They've got the same level of clarity I've come to expect (probably not the ultimate for the audiophile out there, but good enough for me and I am a little picky).

My only disappointment is the fact that they're very quiet when paired with a bluetooth headset. A rather common theme amongst people using bluetooth headsets is that the volume doesn't go nearly to the same level as regular headphones that are plugged in. These headphones are quieter than any other pair I own (I own 4 other sets of headphones, two of which are other Sony products).

If you want good sound these are great. If you want to be able to hear your music in a loud environment and your player doesn't get terribly loud, keep looking. As with all in canal headphones they reduce outside noise, but not quite enough for me when in a loud room. I do still like them for lounging around the house.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap But Good, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Sony Mdr-Ex32Lp/Blk Ex Earbuds Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
Build Quality: The wires are thin and soft gives an impression of weak construction.

Size and Fit: The ear buds are small but once you get it in your ears, its very comfortable and fits well.

Sound Quality: Its average. Sounds much like the standard ear plugs that comes with whatever device. I think it sounds slightly better than the standard Ipod headphones. The treble level is high and the bass is substantial. Its not audiophile quality but unless you know what audiophile quality sounds like, you will think these headphones are surprising good for the price.

Value: For the price, these headphones are worth getting for replacement when your standard headphones that came with your device breaks down.

Conclusion:
These earphones / headphones will sound just as good as the standard headphones that came with your device. No more, no less. It is typical Sony sound with high highs and sufficient bass performance minus a slight clarity in quality.

I recomend these ear buds if you are looking for replacement headphones but do not care to upgrade in sound quality. It will deliver good sound but do not expect "audophile" quality. You may get better sound quality if your device has Equalizer capabilities and you can adjust the treble and bass levels. But remember...most speakers and ear phones sound good if the source is good. Garbage in is garbage out. My Zen Mp3 player puts out pretty good sound and these ear phones do a good job.

I really like the EX32 earbuds and bought this set to replace my old ones. I had them for a long a time and put them through a lot of abuse before the right bud finally died. I was surprised they lasted as long as they did; very durable despite the price. They sound great and the design is awesome. Notice how there isn't very much plastic coming down from the bud? They don't stick way out from your ears like other buds do and can be comfortably worn even while sleeping. Unfortunately (or perhaps not, depending on your taste) Sony changed the cord design to a Y-type cord instead of the old around-the-neck style which I prefer. They sound quality is still great but the new cable just seems a lot cheaper than the old design. Too bad. I guess my search for the perfect earbuds is back on.

5.0 out of 5 stars great ear phones, January 12, 2009

These are great earphones for people with small ears! The earphones that come with ipods do not fit either of my daughters' ears. These solve that problem perfectly and perform very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Earbuds for the Money, November 24, 2008
This review is from: Sony Mdr-Ex32Lp/Blk Ex Earbuds Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
These in-ear earbuds are fantastic. I do not think you can find earbuds of a similar quality at this price. The earbuds fit snugly in your ear and block out extraneous noise nicely, which allows the listener to focus on the music. The cord is just the right length. Unlike some previous models of Sony earbuds, the length of the cord from the split to the left and right bud is the same distance; this as opposed to those designed to be worn behind the neck which have a shorter cord to the right bud than the left. While this might seem unimportant, I think it makes them easier to wear and store. And speaking of storage, they come with a cool little case to keep them in when not in use.

While these are by no means the best earphones or earbuds on the market, I would say they are by far the best I have used for under $20. Definitely worth the small investment to upgrade from those annoying earbuds that came with your player.
