5.0 out of 5 stars In ear, around the neck earbuds
These are the best earbuds I have found to date. This model sits in the ear, blocking out most background noise. Three bud sizes are included, allowing the user a custom fit. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's not so good for me
It looks good. But, sound quality is no so good. And when I used this ear phone I feel some pain inside the ears. That's may be bacause it's noise isolation ear buds. My friend likes it though.

These are the best earbuds I have found to date. This model sits in the ear, blocking out most background noise. Three bud sizes are included, allowing the user a custom fit. These are "around the neck" earbuds. Meaning the left cord is shorter than the right side, which is meant to be worn behind your neck. This allows you to be fairly active with your earbuds on and the cord remains out of your way. This feature also allows you to remove one bud with out taking them completely off; say to answer the phone, talk to a neighbor or gym mate. It's a feature I can't do with out.

There is a slight breaking in period with the sound. I would say, no more than 2 hours at best. The sound, clarity and ease of the around the neck cord make the Sony MDR-EX55LP earbuds my fav.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly comfortable, June 7, 2009

I needed earbuds that would stay in place better when I exercised with my IPOD, were more comfortable than the hard earbuds and had excellent sound quality. This product fit the bill on all 3 needs! When flying they had the effect of noise cancelling as well - huge bonus. The Amazon price is of course much better than in the airport!

1.0 out of 5 stars stopped working after 3 weeks, June 15, 2011
This review is from: Sony Mdr-Ex55/Whi Ex Earbuds Headphones with Silicon Housing (White) (Electronics)
my son owned a pair of sony earbuds in the past and was happy with them. this pair stopped working on the right side in three weeks. he is not ruff with them so I know it is a tech issue with the ear phones. a lot of money, for them to not last.

My boyfriend actually gave me a pair of these a few months ago, but somehow they broke. So I bought these again because they're so wonderful. The sound is so clear and they're really good for such a good price. They are excellent and they fit your ears. I just love them!

4.0 out of 5 stars good for the price, May 17, 2011

Pretty good ear buds for the price. I think I paid around $20 for them or just a bit more. I've had pair I've been using for over a year now, and I got my husband some just like it. They stay in 100% better than the ones that come with an ipod and are much more comfortable.

Be aware that this is not the typical "Y" shaped cord configuration. Where the main cord splits to go to the ear buds, there is one short cord to an ear bud, and then a longer cord to the other ear bud. Maybe this helps distribute the weight of the cord better so they don't fall out of your ears so easily?

It doesn't bother me any, but husband seems a bit thrown off by it.

I was sick of ear buds breaking but I have had these for some time and they work great! No problems. The sound is clear and I cannot hear other noises when I have them in!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Purchase with relatively short lifespan :(, May 6, 2009

I had first tried a pair of the Sony xtra bass ear buds but they were too heavy. I had used the previous version of these before and liked them a lot. These are even better. Great sound, as long as you put them in correctly and very light. I can't even tell they're in. I use them to work out and do yard work and they nver fall out.

Unfortunately, they only last about 6 months. Granded I use them pretty much all day, every day and i'm taking them in and out a lot. I've had two pairs since October 2010 and they both have lost sound in the left ear within about 6 months of purchase.

The pros outweigh the cons thought and I supopse for the equivalent of $5/month I'll keep buying them.

The sound is great and audiologist say they wouldn't harm your ears like ordinary earbuds

1.0 out of 5 stars Hmm, not totally what I expected., May 27, 2009

Well, I just received them and I am wearing them now. I noticed when changing out the silicon part that the earbuds are cheaply made. The plastic casing is off kilter and annoying. Also it is annoying that the cord is clasped permanently in a spot where I don't want it clasped. It's clasped unevenly. I was also expecting the cord to be longer. The cord is pretty short, and I still have to deal with uncomfortable movement of positions while at work.

I guess I just have to get used to this set. I wasn't expecting it to be like this.

The two positives I will give are comfort and sound. The silicon feels better than the hard plastic earbuds I was using earlier today. I also hear a lot less background noise. That's a bonus at my fast paced, slightly noisy ad agency.

Revisited: I would not buy this set again. I'm not liking it. And for this price, it's not worth it.

Revisited year and a half later: Sound only works in right earbud now. It's so annoying.
