4.0 out of 5 stars Good product - misleading information
I've owned an earlier version of this reader for several years and it's worked very well, and been very helpful.

However, the description here in Amazon didn't include the cards this device supports, and after much digging we found a list that reported this specific model supports xD cards for Olympus and Pentax digital cameras, among many others...

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely poor device and Bad Customer Service from Sony
Don't buy this card reader, it DOES NOT read SDHC or MicroSDHC cards as advertised by Sony in their spec sheets. Here's the actual chat session from my contact with Sony Tech support:

Lori: Ok what can I help you with?

John: Hi. I have a MRW62E flash card reader that doesn't want to recognize microsdhc cards... can you help?

Lori: Do...

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely poor device and Bad Customer Service from Sony, June 23, 2009

Lori: Do you have any other cards you can try?

John: Yes, it works fine with cf cards, memory stik pro, sd, sdhc, and microsd cards (all of which I have and use regularly... but it doesn't recognize microsdhc cards, I have tried 3 of them... the microsdhc cards work fine in their devices, but the sony card reader doesn't recognize them... your pdf spec document for this unit says it should recognize sdhc cards up to 8 gb, and that it will work mith microsd and microsdhc cards with an adapter.

Lori: It is not a guarantee that the drive will work with all memory cards.

John: Is that your best answer? Your specs says it works with microsdhc cards, it doesn't say it works with SOME microsdhc cards... Kingston and Sandisk represent 80% of the microsdhc cards manufacturered, your reader works with neither... seems like you could come up with a better answer than that, that's a cop out.

Lori: It says that right in the operating instructions.

Lori: That there is no guarantee it will work with every card.

John: So your device won't work with 80% of the cards on the market that it says it is supposed to work with?

John: Are you even bothering to search your knowledge base for this device to see if there is a solution?

Lori: If the drive will read a bunch of other cards but not this one, then it is not a drive issue.

John: Are you even bothering to search your knowledge base for this device to see if there is a solution?

Lori: There is no knowledge base for this.

A follow up Phone call to Sony Tech support yielded the same result. Except they wanted $19.95 to provide any further tech support. They said the device was only guaranteed 1 year, and since I was out beyond 1 year, I had to pay $19.95 for any tech support. I said the device costs $19.95, this is ridiculous! She said 'That's the way it is.'

I bought Sony because I thought they would provide good support, better than the generics, but I was wrong. I won't buy Sony again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product - misleading information, February 3, 2010

I've owned an earlier version of this reader for several years and it's worked very well, and been very helpful.

However, the description here in Amazon didn't include the cards this device supports, and after much digging we found a list that reported this specific model supports xD cards for Olympus and Pentax digital cameras, among many others.

After I sent it as a gift for a new Olympus camera owner, he finds out it does NOT support xD -- and had to go through the hassle of sending it back.

TO AMAZON: one of the ESSENTIAL elements needed in card reader descriptions is WHICH CARDS THE DEVICE SUPPORTS... and that it be ACCURATE.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not read 8GB Sandisk Ultra Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, January 27, 2011

Reads my older CF, Memory Stick Pro, etc. cards just fine, but fails to read my newer 8GB Sandisk Ultra Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo. I've used this product for several years without problems, but I guess the newer high density cards are showing this product to be long in the tooth.

1.0 out of 5 stars Product arrived not as pictured, July 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader MRW62E/T1/181 (Personal Computers)
If you notice in the picture for this product, it has 4 slots. When it arrived, it had 2 slots. The reader with 2 slots is indeed the 12 in 1 Reader/Writer, but I wanted the 17 in 1 Reader/Writer, which has 4 slots. I'm surprised they have not corrected the photo yet. I had to return it for a refund, and buy the 17 in 1 4-slot Reader/Writer elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars You better have adapters, August 2, 2011
This review is from: Sony 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader MRW62E/T1/181 (Personal Computers)
I was in need of a microSD card reader and I happen to see this, I thought cool this will work since it is labeled that it supports microSD, when I finally opened it all up it really only support a full size SD card and Duo, for everthing else you better have an adapter... what a bunch of bull... i had to run to the store and find me an adapter...

Once you have all the adapter this thing works the way its suppose to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible for SDHC cards, September 24, 2010
This review is from: Sony 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader MRW62E/T1/181 (Personal Computers)
I've got four 32GB class 10 SDHC cards, I wanted something reliable to transfer video files...this piece of crap nearly caused the teeth on the SDHC card to come loose. It takes an average of three to four tries just to get the card in there properly because it's made for so many different types. I would recommend buying it if you don't care about your SDHC cards and enjoy losing money and video footage to cheap card readers!

3.0 out of 5 stars Requires Adapters for some card formats, December 31, 2009
This review is from: Sony 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader MRW62E/T1/181 (Personal Computers)
Just wanted to let folks know that this unit requires adaptors in order to read "Memory Stick Micro" ("M2"), microSD Caard, microSDHC Card, or MMCmicro.

I had purchased because I had lost all of those pesky little adapters and wanted an easy card reader solution.
This was not it.

3.0 out of 5 stars 12 in 1 but NOT xD?, December 9, 2011
This review is from: Sony 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader MRW62E/T1/181 (Personal Computers)
I quickly ordered two of these for my copy center business thinking there couldn't be any memory card that this couldn't read. And, of course, the first card I find that it doesn't accept is what my own personal camera takes! My old 6 card adapter accepted xD. Why wouldn't this one? I know: "read closer" you say. Believe me, next time I will.
