With more than 230 million videos viewed online and more than 150,000 uploaded daily, video sharing is fast becoming as popular as photo sharing.
Sony's Net-sharing CAM seamlessly uploads short video clips to the web, and snaps print-quality, 5-megapixel digital still photos. Weighing just about five ounces, the model has ultra-portable dimensions (1 3/16 by 4 1/8 by 2 1/4 inches, W x H x D).It can record about five hours of web-ready video footage on a Memory Stick PRO Duo media card, when recording with the default settings on a 2GB media card.
Ready to Shoot and Share
The device shoots video in the "web-ready" MPEG-4 recording format, with selectable picture qualities ranging from QVGA/15 frames per second to VGA/30 frames per second, which can be viewed on televisions. It sports a distinctive "sharemark" button so users can easily "tag" or select video and photos they want to upload.
The Net-sharing CAM is pre-loaded with PMB Portable software. This user-friendly application automatically runs when the device is connected to a compatible PC via the supplied USB cable, and will recognize "tagged" videos and photos. Because the unit pre-formats videos for popular web-sharing sites, it is easy to access them and post videos, without having to down-convert or manipulate the footage beforehand.
For the ultimate in ease of upload, the PMB Portable pre-loaded software has pre-programmed menu buttons for direct publishing to web sharing sites, such as Crackle. The built-in software can also be programmed for web sites of your choice or even your own personal blog or "vlog."
Picture Motion Browser software is also supplied for those who would prefer an extended version of the application to run directly from a personal computer. Additionally, this version makes it possible to quickly edit and store footage based on preferences. Bundled driver software is also included so the device can double as a live web cam.
Designed to be sleek and intuitive, the Net-sharing CAM sports separate buttons for movies and photos, eliminating the need to select specific modes before shooting. It has a built-in flash, 4x digital zoom, and a 2.4-inch color LCD screen. Powered with rechargeable Lithium-ion technology, the model has a battery life of about 90 minutes (depending on recording conditions).

OK, so it's not Blue Ray High Def video, but it's good enough for the folks in England to see their grandson crunch his first leaves or do his first snow angel.
The camera is well suited for it's intended purpose -- fits in your shirt pocket -- pop up the LCD viewer, the camera turns on, and your ready to auto shoot. Uploading to a video site is so easy that even this 62 year old tech-phopic can do it without saying -- huh? William in Colorado

I purchased this camera because I was having my 1st child, and wanted to be able to capture the "big day", as well as other moments in her life. I didn't purchase this camera w/the hopes of being a major filmmaker. This camera is great because it(s);
- small and compact - looks great - has a flash - takes stills as well as movies - has ability to take stills while filming - has a large viewing screen - screen rotates all the way around so you can film yourself and see what you're filming at the same time ;o) - easy to use - has rechargable battery (+++++) - can be used w/PCs AND MACS - comes w/software - the SONY name!!! Yes, the only downside is that it is terrible w/low light, but just make sure you're using sufficient daylight or inside light, and you'll be fine (guess you're out of luck if you wanted to film your own night time horror flick!). Also, make sure that you purchase a memory card to go w/. . . I found that the 2gb is enough (4.55 hrs of filming time!) - Sony 2 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (MSX-M2GS)(Retail Package)

It's nice to have a hand size cam to pull out anytime, anywhere, and this does as expected, plug in the mini usb for access to a mass storage device and access the MPEG4 (MP4) format videos. 8GB mem duo pro stick allows for roughly 5 hours and 45 min of 30fps record time. It has 4meg onboard but it's useless other then for maybe a few 5mp pics. Overall nice product but could use a little more light sensitivity in the darker hours but works excellent in normal lighting, just not dim lighting. Camera has a flash but no light for camcorder function.
