Amazing,
This review is from: Sony NWZS616FPNK 4GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink) (Electronics)
I wanted to buy an iPod for my girlfriend. After reading some reviews from this site and other specialized sites I found out that iPod isn't that good on audio quality. My opinion is that audio quality is the most important thing on an audio player. Ok...I know that MP3 format isn't for audiophiles but anyway. So I decided to buy this Sony.
First of all the sound quality is superb, even with the supplied headphones. Of course on a serious pair of headphones you will be amazed. The screen is excellent too, good resolution excellent image quality. The computer will see it as a "walkman" and it will behave as an ordinary memory stick. The transfer speed is great too. I have to agree that iPod wins regarding the controls, the click wheal is very easy to use, but the Sony is also very easy and intuitive to use. I used an iPod so I know what I am saying. I also think that iPod's are overpriced and I would recommend the Sony to everybody who wants a small excellent sounding, portable MP3 player. I almost forgot...the build quality is superb too.

I had used an inexpensive mp3 player with limited storage space to find out if I'd really like it before spending for more storage space and options. I used it all the time, so then the educated shopping began.
I found that by all accounts, this 4GB Sony Walkman would suit my needs, and this has proven true. I use Windows Media Player to load my music, and I drag and drop audio books and sermons from a file on my desktop. I use this little gadget everyday, and I love it. The sound quality is terrific, and loading data is really a simple process that only takes a couple of minutes, so it's no trouble at all. I haven't figured out the video function yet (except for watching the preloaded movie trailer), but that's not why I really bought it. It has an FM radio as well, which I assume would receive better outside. I don't listen to the radio as much as the audio books and music, but it's nice to know it's there. I have some family photos stored which are easily accessible and you can set them to be shown horizontally or vertically. All in all, I would highly recommend this mp3 player. I have no complaints with it, use it every day, and plan to learn more of its functions over time. Oh, and I chose it in pink so that my husband and sons wouldn't take it from me. One of my sons liked mine so much that he got a 2GB in black.

Sony Makes A Comeback,

This review is from: Sony NWZS616FPNK 4GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink) (Electronics)
I picked this up after taking a look at different simple flash based mp3 players. My concerns were mostly cost and software related. I did not want a player which relied on bloated software or poorly designed software. I could live with less elegant navigation if the transfer of music and files did not require clunky software. This Sony Walkman fulfills the criteria and a bit more.
Pros: 1. Drag and drop! Music and videos may be added without software, just drag the files to corresponding folders 2. Works with Windows Media Player 11, it syncs very easily (ability to make playlists easily) 3. Simple user interface, buttons are named properly, operates very smoothly Cons: 1. Display is plastic, not glass, will scratch very easily 2. Case is completely plastic The Cons definitely weigh less than pros. It's a good buy for about $100. I don't have an opinion on the sound quality, music sounds best when paired with better headphones. The stock headphones are white for this model, anticipate buying another set if white is not desired.

I ended up returning this item. Overall it was nice and easy to use but it did not perform up to my expectations. One of the primary reasons I purchased this item was to use at the gym. I am an instructor for group classes and I wanted to be able to store my music on this MP3 and just bring this to my class to plug into the stereo instead of my bulky CD case with CDs that can be scratched. Unfortunately there was no way to play music where there was no delay between songs. This is disruptive in my kickboxing class where we are following through with choreography and a pause throws us off. It also did not level the music so the volume went up and down throughout the time I was using it in class. Not a big deal when you are listening to it on a walk, but a big deal when you are presenting with it.
Also, I uploaded a video through media player and I was unable to watch it on the device. It took up the memory, but I had no way to access it. I did not try too hard to investigate the glitch, but it was the straw that convinced me to send it back. For a basic MP3 player it's great. It's easy to use, the music sounds good, etc. But I feel it needs to be refined a bit. I am biting the bullet and just ordered an ipod. I was trying to avoid it, but this is the 2nd MP3 that I have returned in my avoidance of purchasing an ipod.

You can use it with iTunes!,

I bought this to replace an old iPod mini. The battery in this is incredible - I can go for weeks without charging it, and I use it at least five days a week.
You can definitely still use iTunes with this Walkman. It can play M4A files, which are what type of files are created by iTunes when you import a cd. If you buy music from the iTunes store, they will be M4P files (unless they are the new DRM-free format.) You can just burn your M4P files onto a cd and import the cd back into iTunes. You can open your iTunes music folder and drag and drop the songs onto your Walkman as though it were a memory stick. Very handy.

Its a very good buy. I only rated it 4 stars because its size was much smaller than I had anticipated it would be but its okay, I am getting used to it.
I love the main menu screens and all of the menu features. The displays are very good on the screen. Its a very good buy for the money it cost. All of my friends and relatives that have seen it think that its cute and a very good buy as well.

Downloading music was easy. The sound control and options is better than an ipod. My only problem is mines hold 780 songs but than again I didn't use windows media player.

I love it!,

I grew up carrying a Sony Walkman when it was a cassette player and radio. Now, in the new millennium, I'm carrying it as an MP3 player and radio...among other things. I'm traveling more, so I have family photos loaded as well as lots of songs.
The sound quality is wonderful, although I'm still getting used to the earbuds that came with it. They're a bit uncomfortable for my little ears. The picture quality is good, too, although on a little screen it's bound to be. So, it's cute, it's little, it's pink, and it's full of my favorite tunes!

Bought this for my 9 year old daughter for her birthday. Easy to use, she caught on to it with very little instruction from me (and without the instructions). Pros: Easy to use and has an icon based menu.
Con: Must be connected via USB port to the computer to charge. We give it a thumbs up. |
