Sony PFM-42V1
Had problems with this screen from the start. The image 'jogs' from side to side every so many seconds. It's not all that noticeable on a moving image, but gets very irritating once you're aware of it. Latest problem (nine months in) is a distinct loss of image quality when using s-video input. I'm told by Sony tech support that the s-video card is going out...

Sony PFM-42V1, October 4, 2004
This review is from: Sony PFM-42V1/S 42-Inch PlasmaPro Flat Panel Display, Silver (Electronics)
Had problems with this screen from the start. The image 'jogs' from side to side every so many seconds. It's not all that noticeable on a moving image, but gets very irritating once you're aware of it. Latest problem (nine months in) is a distinct loss of image quality when using s-video input. I'm told by Sony tech support that the s-video card is going out. Now, here's the clincher. To get any warranty work on this, I have to be without the screen for around 4+ weeks while they use the slowest (cheapest) method to get it to their service center. No loaner, no compensation... just a blank space on the wall. Ask yourself before you shell out for this screen - "what if it fails? Do I care if I'm without a TV for a month? Of course, you might not have any problems with the screen, in which case you'll be blissfully unaware of the terrible warranty service.

Ok TV, January 12, 2010
This review is from: Sony PFM-42V1/S 42-Inch PlasmaPro Flat Panel Display, Silver (Electronics)
Purchased this TV some time ago, was over priced from the get-go and purchased directly form Sony. Had issues with it from the start, would get green spots that flash which to find out are pixels that are going or gone out. Overall has a nice picture, currently used more than 4,000 hours and still going strong. A very durable TV and long lasting, making an amazing computer display when using the RGB hookup. Overall I would not recommend this model, however am satisfied with the age of of this HDTV.
