5.0 out of 5 stars PRSACL6
I bought the PRSACL6 to replace the expensive and the not so good CL1. The CL6 comes with 2 underpowered led bulbs that is powered by a single AA battery but is still much better than the cl1. It doesn't compare to the awesomely bright mighty mites but that fact the cl6's light is integrated to the cover gives it a plus in my book. The front cover can be folded to the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware, does not fit Sony Touch 650
This cover does not fit the Sony Digital Reader Touch Edition Model 650. This cover does not fit the Sony Digital Reader Touch Edition Model 650. My main complaint is that no distinction was made in Amazon's item description between the various models of the Touch Edition or that there even are different models and sizes of the Touch Edition. According to the vendor, no lighted cover exists for the 650 model. So now we have to send it back and pay the 15% restocking fee.

It doesn't compare to the awesomely bright mighty mites but that fact the cl6's light is integrated to the cover gives it a plus in my book. The front cover can be folded to the back to give you unobtrusive 1 hand reading. This model is made for the new prs 600 touch but the cover also fits the 505 like a glove (rejoice 505 owners). Overall, it is a good accessory for your sony ebook (for the price, I wish SONY would have put a flap in it's cover for storage, but it's only a minor gripe) I just wish it was a little brighter though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Limited Protection, March 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony PRSACL6 Cover With Reading Light (Personal Computers)
I purchased my Sony Touch Edition Cover via this website two months ago and have taken it on several trips with me. After some solid road time I can honestly say there is definitely room for a lot of improvement.

The thinly padded black, leatherette PRSACL6 is outfitted with a plastic bracket that snaps into the mounting ports on the top and bottom of my eReader and binds the unit to the cover. It does a good job of holding my E Reader in place but I remain wary of the use of plastic. Its a given that the thin padding is not going to protect my eReader from hard impact.

I found no mention of this in the instructions or via the company's website, but there are four magnets installed on the corners of the cover. Obviously there for secure closing, this may or may not be a problem for any electronic media placed near it.

A sliding power switch with two brightness settings operate the flex neck LED light. Powered by one AAA battery, the flex light does an average job of providing illumination. No matter of the positioning level, there is a small amount of glare. So far I've gotten some great mileage from the original battery.

Besides the magnet issue that I noted earlier, this product still has an unfinished feel about it. Even though it protects the front and back of my E Reader, it still leaves vital ports located on the top and bottom plus the stylus slot exposed. An enclosed cover would have been ideal. In the meantime, I have to designate a dedicated storage area in my briefcase or backpack just for my E Reader.

The Sony PRSACL6 comes with instructions, one AAA battery and a one year limited manufacturer's warranty. Sony's website is usually loaded with user friendly product data. Information on this product is practically nonexistent. On the bright side there is a toll free customer support number posted.

It is without question that this product was rushed to market. Unfortunately, until there is an improved version by either Sony or perhaps an outfit like Case Logic, buyers have to settle for limited or no protection. For the price, I was expecting more.

The hard cover is good for protection but so is the cover it came with. I'm not going to mistreat an expensive item like the Reader anyway. The light isn't bright enough and doesn't cover the whole page so you constantly have to move it. If you're going to buy the hard cover, save your money and buy the cheaper one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Book clips broke within 3 weeks, no recourse, March 9, 2010

Bought this for my wife after buying her the SONY eReader (Touch) for Christmas. Within 3 weeks the plastic clip that holds the Reader in place broke and since I do not have the original packaging, SONY (at their local SONY Style Store) indicated that there was nothing they can do about it. Know I own a beautiful $60 light with no real other use... We tried to SuperGlue it back together but no luck so far. Save your money and don't buy this...

2.0 out of 5 stars not worth the cost, January 20, 2010
This review is from: Sony PRSACL6 Cover With Reading Light (Personal Computers)
I got the sony reader and book cover for christmas. today is january 20th so not even a month has gone by and my cover is already broken. it is a nice cover on the outside but the inside parts are cheap and very easily broken. the clips that hold the book in place are just cheap plastic knobs that snap off at the slightest amount of pressure. once these snap off the cover is pretty useless. for something that cost almost $50 you would think they could at least use metal tabs. what a dissappointment! and not anywhere near worth the $50 price tag!
also while i like the idea of having a built in book light, there is really no difference between the hi and low settings and like many others have complained about the light causes some pretty bad reflection on the screen making the print impossible to read. you either have to move the light farther away, which makes the light almost worthless, or continually move the light as you read to adjust where the glare on the screen is going to be.
the only think i like about this cover is the way it looks on the outside and that it gives the reader a more book like feel when holding it to read.

The Sony Digital REader Touch Edition Cover with light is very easy to use and provides good protection for the Sony Reader. However, there is distinct glare on the screen from the light and I find myself frequently repositioning the light to get better screen coverage. Of course, the ideal solution would be to have an electronic reader with an adjustable internal lighting feature so that an external light would be unnecessary!

I live with a man who works odd, sometimes very late hours at night. I like to read while he sleeps since I am the one who is often the most wound up when he is finished. So I will turn on my light and read away. I will say that it was hard to get used to at first because the light is bright, but it is second nature to me now. It sure does make it easier to hold it in my hand since the binding is flexible and folds like a book. I would highly recommend this to others.

The light works great with my sony reader...I use it nearly every time I use my reader. The case protects my reader and makes it seem more like a book. I would definetely buy again.
