5.0 out of 5 stars Sony 50" Plasma PMB50HX1 - Better than expected, February 21, 2006
By
This review is from: Sony PlasmaPro PMB50HX1 50 Inch Plasma Monitor (Electronics)
I have had mine for 2 months and really enjoy watching this Plasma. I have done my research on Plasma, DLP and LCD Televisions and my conclusion narrowed me down to this Sony PMB50HX1 50" Plasma. One of my main focuses was on the native resolution at 1366 x 768. When I coupled it up with my High Def DishNet receiver I was able to upconvert to 1920 x 1080 and it looks incredible. I also have a Sony DVD Player with HDMI output that allows me to upconvert to 1920 x 1080 as well. Viewing DVD movies at this resolution is better than I had expected. Keep in mind this Sony has 1 DVI input so you will need HDMI to DVI cable converters or in my case I use a 4 to 1 HDMI switch to allow me to connect multiple High Def devices to the 1 DVI input. The picture quality is not degraded using either of these methods.

Other focuses were on Full 170 degree Vertical and Horizontal Viewing angles. Plasma's are much better than rear projection DLP or LCD. I have a young child and the ability to mount this on the wall out of the reach of little hands was a must. The 60,000 hour long-life panel equals to about 20 years at 8 hours a day use.

Pros: Sony picture quality, Wall Mount, Full 170 degree Vertical and Horizontal Viewing Angle. 60,000 Long-Life Panel, 10,000:1 Contrast ratio, PC Input

Cons: No HDMI interface
