1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after a month
This cable worked perfectly for about a month, but now no sound comes out of the left side. If I wiggle the cable at the connector, I can get sound sometimes, but the cable is basically unusable.

I purchased this particular cable over other cheaper varieties because I hoped it'd be of higher quality, so this is pretty disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Headphone/Speaker extension cable!, October 23, 2006
This review is from: Sony RK-G138 Audio Connecting Cable for Headphone Extension (3 meters) (Electronics)
I had previously owned a different brand of headphone/speaker extension cable for my computer speaker system and it worked well for about 6 months. After that, the female connector started getting loose, and I would only hear sound coming out of the left channel unless I wiggled the connector around to 'fix' the problem. I would have to repeat this process almost every day, and it started to annoy me to no end.

Alas, I came across this Sony brand extension cable, and I thought I'd give it shot.

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard a 'click' noise when I connected my speakers to the extension cord, a very snug fit. It gave me the sense of ease I was looking for - I knew that I didn't have to worry about a bad connection again.

So far, I've noticed better sound quality coming out of my speakers than before (most likely due to the fact my older extension cable was junk), and I have yet to worry about a bad connection/poor sound quality. It feels good to have my speaker system sounding right again.

BOTTOM LINE - great solution for extending the distance for your headphones or computer speaker system! Gold plated connectors, 2.5mm to 6.3mm adapter, Sony-quality, 9.8', good stuff :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Solution, January 7, 2007

The Sony extension cord for headphones works especially well and makes my husband happy when I'm watching movies late at night. This works with my computer, DVD player and stereo. This cord also works with the AKG headphones and the K240 version makes everything sound amazing. The cord is lightweight and the nine feet extension makes it much easier to enjoy music a little further from the source. Now I can sit on the other side of the room and watch a movie on my computer or enjoy late night movies without disturbing my husband.

5.0 out of 5 stars These Cables Work Great!, January 9, 2007

I bought two of these cables, and at first I was using them with a splitter so I could hook up both speakers from a dual monitor system (speakers mounted on LDC monitors). I no longer have that setup so now I am using one to extend the reach of my microphone, so I don't have to climb behind the desk to plug it in. The other one I'm using between my iPod and my car, which has a built in AUX funtion. As for sound quality, everything seems to pass through them just fine. They are thick enough not to get pinched, but thin enough to be flexible. Overall I'd say these are some very handy cables to have around!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Extension cord and adapter in one., July 2, 2009

This review is from: Sony RK-G138 Audio Connecting Cable for Headphone Extension (3 meters) (Electronics)
This was the length of extension I needed and saved me from having to buy a separate jack for my receiver since it comes with it. It has a 1/4"/6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter that plugs into my receiver and fits your normal headphone size jack. The extension cord is of course 3.5mm on both ends. The cord is thin like most reviwers say (as thin as iPod headphone cords) but if that affects quality I can't tell. They sound great to me with my Sennheiser headphones. I haven't noticed any crackling, static, hiss or interference. The cord seems durable and doesn't look like it's going to break any time soon.

UPDATE 8/1/11: 2 years later and it's as good as new, and I use it almost every night. I'm also not gentle with the cord at all - I coil it around my headphones almost nightly and cram them in a drawer. I see no signs of wear and it still sounds great and clear to me. I imagine they'll last me a long time at this rate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, good value., September 3, 2008

After originally purchasing a 6 ft "Cable to Go" and discovering it was garbage, I purchased the Sony extentsion cord. It works great. I use it at work to listen to music from my PC. The cord is long and flexible enough to allow me to move around while wearing my headphones. The connections are tight and the sound quality is not affected with use of this extension cord. This cord is a few more dollars than the "Cable to Go", but very much worth the money. I highly recommend this product.

This is very nice for adding length to any pair of headphones. I have one pair however that is a professional pair and there is a slight difference in sound quality to the trained ear. I do emphasize the trained ear part because it is very slight and most people might not notice. However for those of you looking for an extension for professional headphones, this is not the one for you.

some people have complained about the wires being too thin.. but this is a positive and negative.. the thinness of the wire makes them very light.. they dont pull down on my headphones.. and they are also very flexible and easy to manage.. very comfortable to deal with.. however .. being thin cables.. they are weaker.. keep them out of traffic.. and they will be fine.. i found the sound quality to be fine.. did not notice any difference.. but i dont use expensive $200 headphones either..

This cable does exactly what it says it should, the cable is a little thin but it doesn't effect the quality which is what really matters. It's very cheap compared to others and the main reason I got it was because it also came with the 1/4 inch adapter which I also needed. From a good company too, not some generic brand that you haven't heard of.

3.0 out of 5 stars 1/4" Stereo Phone Adapter should Screw On, March 31, 2010

My biggest complaint will have to be with the 1/4" Stereo Phone Adapter. It doesn't screw onto the connecting cable and unfortunately comes apart when removing from my Onkyo AV receiver, which has a recessed headphone jack, making it difficult to remove. This alone will make me look for a replacement for the entire unit.

Agree with other reviewers concerning cord thickness / quality. I see this as a weakness that I fully expect to fail regardless of care.
