4.0 out of 5 stars Good Remote
I bought this for my elderly mother. The big butttons are easy to push. It works great. I did have a little trouble programming this remote. You're instructed to push the 'Set' button and the 'Power' button at the same time to begin programming the remote. It didn't work the first few times I tried. Turns out I wasn't pushing hard enough on the 'Set' button. I used a...

3.0 out of 5 stars not what advertised
I confidently ordered a Sony Remote, RM-EZ2 but received a RM-EZ4. While the form of the remote is very similar to the EZ2, the ergonomics of the button layout is TOTALLY DIFFERENT and absolutely NOT what was pictured in the posting.

The fact that the product is not what is depicted in the posting photograph is troubling.................

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Remote, March 30, 2005

I bought this for my elderly mother. The big butttons are easy to push. It works great. I did have a little trouble programming this remote. You're instructed to push the 'Set' button and the 'Power' button at the same time to begin programming the remote. It didn't work the first few times I tried. Turns out I wasn't pushing hard enough on the 'Set' button. I used a small screwdriver to hold down the set button while I pushed the power button. Everything went smoothly after that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Remote For The Remote Control Challenged!, March 11, 2004
This review is from: Sony RM-EZ2 TV and Cable Remote Control (Electronics)
This is one of the greatest remotes in the world for the remote control challenged! It's also great for the elderly, or for anyone who is tired of remotes with little buttons. The buttons on this are BIG! And about the only thing your remote control challenged relative or friend could do to make it not work, is to push the CBL button, when they have no cable box. It's strictly for TV or a cable box, which is all a lot of people actually use.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT REMOTE CONTROL, August 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sony RM-EZ2 TV and Cable Remote Control (Electronics)
This is a great remote control. Buttons are large, easy to see, logically organized, and uncluttered. You do not have to search for the button you want to push. I bought extras in case it is discontinued.

I bought this item for my elderly aunt. She couldn't understand the buttons on the remote which comes with the TV and VCR. This remote is simple to use, and for a senior citizen, the buttons are large enough not to cause problems.

Fantastic product! It's really easy to use, especially if you are using it with a Sony TV (it will configure itself automatically). Especially great for channel surfers. Mine is 4 years old and still works perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars No bells, no whistles - exactly what I want, March 24, 2007
By
This review is from: Sony RM-EZ2 TV and Cable Remote Control (Electronics)
I've had two RM-EZ2 for over a year now (on different TVs) ... very satisfactory indeed.

pro:

-very smooth action, easy to press buttons, fine for big clumsy fingers and poor eyesight

-always works without fussy pointing

-good battery life

con:

-eventually one will accidentally depress the wrong CBL or TV button and wonder why the remote no longer works ...

the cure is simple, just depress the correct button, but if you forget that they are there, you might think the remote is broken - it's not, it's you.

-There seems to be no way to generate the code to put your TV into setup mode - so don't throw away the manufacturer's original remote if you ever want to put the TV into setup mode

This is a great remote control for older people. The buttons are oversized and easy to see and press. Just the basic frequently used features are present. The less used and confusing buttons found on most remote controls have been eliminated from this unit. No more accidental pressing of one of these "odd" buttons and then not knowing to undo it. The RM-EZ2 can be configured to work with the majority of today's TV brands.

I got two of these for relatives that were having problems operating complicated remotes with tiny buttons. The BIG easy-to-push buttons on this remote are just what was needed!

This unit is very easy to program and use, but a pointed object (such as a small screwdriver) might be helpful to depress the "set" button for initial programming.

Although the instructions are somewhat cryptic, I managed to distill the necessary setup instructions down to a simplified list of steps easy enough for my technologically impaired sisters to program this remote for my father. He LOVES it; it's much easier for him to operate. I would have swapped a cable box function for a VCR function, but then, I didn't build it. Maybe the RM-EZ3 will have the VCR function instead, when they build it. Until then this is the best choice. I read the reviews where people couldn't get it to work and maybe they got a defective unit, 'cause mine worked as advertised.

Excellant choice if you want something very simple and are not worried about controlling other components. Excellant replacement for a lost remote. Nice and Big so you won't lose it again! You can't go wrong!
