I ordered this remote as a replacement for my Sony Blu-ray S360, which my GSP chewed into panko-like consistency. Originally, I immediately went to Radioshack to get a universal remote, which happened to be an Auvio. Big mistake. After a month of reprogramming and relearning buttons daily for the Auvio remote, I finally gave up. After putting plenty of research into finding the best remote for my applications, the Sony RMVZ220 (this product) and the RMVLZ620 (which controls up to 8 devices) were center-stage. I didn't really need a remote that controlled 8 devices, so I was mainly focused on the 220. The 620 has a "learning" feature (the 220 does not) which would have been great if I still had the original remote.

After narrowing my options and studying the operation manuals for each remote I found that the 220 was the best option for the cost. I now have had this remote for about a month, and it does everything that the original remote did, and more. When you press the device button at the top of the remote, it automatically turns on the device (if it is a sony product). This remote has an eject button, which my original remote did not. Huge plus!

The only downfall (might be too miniscule to call it that) is that there is no button to toggle the time status of the Disc. You can press the info button to show you a timeline in order to give you a frame of reference, but I do enjoy being able to see how much time is left on the movie, or episode, that I'm watching. That might seem a little nit-picky, but at this point I'm struggling to find faults.

Overall, I'm very happy with this product. It has a good weight, and comfortable ergonomics. The buttons are really enjoyable to press. They have this sort of firmness, but once you get to a certain threshold of pressure, they click down in a satisfying way. The location of the buttons makes using this remote really easy to learn.

So, in other words, a wonderful product.

Tried all of the codes AND the search function - even call Sony support! - and absolutely nothing worked. Have a Magnavox model 27MC4303/17 TV/DVD/VCR combo. If you have one too (or something similar), keep looking. It even says in tiny print on the packaging (and I wish this was in the Amazon description), "Compatible with all models of the below brands of video devices (except combo products)"...

My wife and I finally dropped the controller from our 12 year old Sony Trinitron too many times. I was impressed the original remote lasted this long.Initially i was concerned that a replacement remote would be impossible to find. Having bad luck with "universal" remotes in the past, requiring manufacturer's codes, programming and never quite working perfectly it was a sad day.. until i found this.

Sony RMVZ220 worked right away without any programming at all. Great price, no complaints.

Recently bought a new TV and got the HD DVR to go with it. Needed to be able to drive the TV, DVR, DVD, and VCR (Yeah we still use one) with one device. The DVR remote did all that, but since the wife and I are two cranky old people that sit on opposite sides of the room, I needed a second one to be appropriately armed for Video Challenges. She turns it down, I turn it up. She puts on the news, I put on the Simpsons.

The Sony was easy to program for all four devices, and works like a charm. To get a second remote from the DVR company would have cost $60.00. The Sony was less than $15.00 including shipping.

I needed a new Sony remote for my big screen TV since the old remote was slowly disintegrating into nothingness and half of the buttons had already stopped working. I put the batteries in on this bad boy and it was ready to go! Works fantastically on my DVD player as well. I would buy this again in a heartbeat as it was easy to use and quite versatile.

Love this remote. I have a sony Blue-ray DVD player and needed a remote for it. To get the original remote would have cost me $40. I tried a different remote, different company but it was annoying. This sony remote is perfect. It's very simple to set it to use for the DVD player as well as for the coby monitor we have. It's a perfect size and the buttons are easy to find and use.

Perfect remote for a great price!

Like you, I have perhaps a dozen remotes in my home, some working, some out of date or related to long gone products. THIS remote is the finest universal remote I have ever used. Ergonomically weighted and formed, it has accurate protocols to use almost all the aspects of the device in question. My Philips remote could not do much more than change channels on my TV top cable box, but this remote does it all. You DO have to patiently figure out the keys and how they correspond to the device, but that is the normal problem you have with a remote that must relate to hundreds of devices.

I ordered Wednesday afternoon, had it Saturday morning - terrific shipping response. Worked great right out of the package. I almost ordered one like our original control the RM-YD024 for $80. I read the reviews and found this for less then $10, it is also a Sony and will do the job so I gave it a try. Many control replacement do not have the guide button, this one does. We like the lay out of this one better. We have been using the remote that came with our Sony Blue-Ray as a second control, it does not have a guide button. We are purchasing another one of these to replace it too.

August 3, 2012 update. The second is just as good as the first, great price, fast shipping for free. John
