A fine small zoom,

For some reason, this lens gets a bad rap but, I have found my copy to be fine. Is it a Zeiss? No. Is it that different from a Zeiss? No. Is it cheaper than a Zeiss or Sony G? For sure! I got mine on sale for $200.
I've been shooting with my copy for a few months and, am happy as a clam that it cost so little but delivers high quality images. A good solid performer. If you get it on sale, I would call it an excellent lens. One final thought on the zoom ring: It is tighter on this lens compared to other Sony, Minolta, and Konica Minolta lenses I own. But I like this as the lens has no lens creep at all. But if you are use to a looser zoom ring, it may seem too tight.

I purchased the Sony SAL 24-105 zoom for my Alpha 850. The images I get with the lens are satisfactory, and it is nice and light. On the downside, sometimes the lens "snags" when zooming in, which leads me to think that eventually there will be a mechanical failure. I do not think this lens will hold up to the rigours of daily hard use, and does not feel solid like my 70-300G series lens does, in my mind it is a casual users lens. I will be buying the Zeiss 24-70 asap, and putting this lens up for sale on eBay.
