This player is the standard in audio perfection. Many people purchase SACD players expecting amazing sound from a $200 player on a decent stereo and you may not hear the quality you would expect given all the hype about the amazing audio. This player, matched with a great sound system worthy of this caliber of audio component, will amaze your ears and trick you into thinking the orchestra is playing right there infront of you. The audio created, projects an image unlike any other SACD player out there. Is it worth the money? Depends on your ears. I would never spend this kind of money on one, but I took the chance and now I can't be without it or one of similar quality.

A superb SACD Player/DAC which additionally upsamples Red Book CD (16-bit, 44.1kHz) to SACD/DSD (1-bit, 2.8Msps). In each case, a 1-bit data stream is input to a very linear multi-level DAC. Multiple instances of the DAC are used to reduce rms noise and enhance SNR. Well-produced CD's approach the analog-like sound of the more data-rich SACD/DSD format. The XA9000ES is mechanically well-constructed and robust, for reduced micro phonics. Technology is evolving though and Sony has stopped making this product. High resolution CD (24-bit, 96kHz/192kHz) played via USB DAC's (no CD player) is now possible.

i just want to give this product 5 stars for hilarious.
5 stars for sony too, having the balls to sell a $3000 CD player.
