After having carefully shopped for a 17 inch flat panel display since Christmas, the moment I saw this one I knew it was what I had been looking for. I upgraded to a new computer last week, but as much as I am an HP junkie, I could not buy their second rate flat panel in good conscience. I had originally wanted one with built-in speakers, but when I got a look at the clarity and brightness (500:1 contrast ratio) of this new model, I quickly changed my mind. It is an incredible value for the money, and the rebate currently offered by Sony makes the deal even sweeter. I am convinced that this model is by far the best flat panel in its class and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

You'll be shocked when you open the box with your new Sony monitor - there's almost nothing in it. A manual, 2 cables and the display. The instructions for connecting are very brief and to the point. Follow them exactly. If you are using an old monitor, just disconnect the cables from the monitor and use them, rather than the new ones. Saves time. You should be delighted when you turn it on. There seems to be no problems out there waiting for you, at least I couldn't locate any thru the sales clerks. A fine product.

The quality of this monitor is amazing. I purcased the Limited Dark Blue Edition off of Sonystyle.com. The qualiy is simply amazing. It is definetly worth the extra $$$. However I would reccomend the 15 inch version for the typical user.

I don't think you will be disappointed with this monitor. I absolutely love mine. I shopped around for months before deciding to purchase this one. You know, $550 is not pocket change. I also am an avid Linux user, and I haven't had any issues with Linux drivers and this monitor. The color saturation is great. The clarity is phenomenal. I am very happy that I purchased this Sony monitor.

This monitor is attractive and has a beautiful picture. I don't play fast action games so I can't vouch for its performance there. But my strategy games work great.

Re - the reviewer complaining about dead pixels - do not buy such an expensive item from a place where it can't be sent back.

I bought this flat panel believing that Sony produced high quality electronic goods. Boy was I disappointed, as soon as I took it out the box I notice a dead pixel in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I took back and exchanged it for another unit. The manager at Compusa, warned me that Sony won't consider it a defect unless there were at least 20 dead pixels in the center of the screen, so if the second unit is defective he couldn't do any thing for me. I get home and install the replacement monitor, and "Bam!" another dead pixel, this time in the center of the screen. Sony is junk and produce junk. Don't Buy!!!!!

this monitor has good resolution and contrast ratio...however, the screen turned complete white and blank after just 1.5months of use. i ended up switching back to my old CRT monitor and it worked fine...call up sony and was told they can only send me a refurbished monitor because its more than a month since purchase..and there you go, I lost $100 value in less than 2 months...i am very disappointed with the quality of the monitor.

Found this monitor on the trash pile on the night you can toss anything out. Took it home, plugged it in, and it works great! Don't see any dead pixels. Funny when you read the reviews and some one actually recommended a monitor smaller than 17". Times have changed. This old monitor makes a nice second monitor while developing software. Still looks stylish too.

I have ordered two products in same day; one of them which is from another sender, I got four days before this product. Excluding labor day, product has taken 7 days to be delivered. Monitor is damaged hopefully not the screen but the around has noticeable scratches.
The positive side is product was very cheap; reason of not given 1 star.

I purchased this monitor 7 years ago and have had no problems with it. Has a great picture, good flat panel LCD. Never had any trouble or problem with pixels. The fact is that I am about to buy one for my wife.
