Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Sony's AM/FM stereo headphone radio is designed for active use. Made of high-impact plastic, it uses rubber gaskets, bushings, and water-resistant seals to keep water, moisture, and dirt out. The AM/FM stereo radio has digital synthesized tuning for drift-free reception. An auto volume limiter works to minimize distortion, while large drivers enhance sound delivery.

A dual headband provides a secure fit and adjusts on either side. The flexible FM antenna includes a light reflector for added safety. Its built-in clock also has a battery life indicator. The SRF-HM55 can run on two AA-size batteries (not included) for up to 33 hours. Sony offers a one-year warranty on parts and 90 days on labor.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Sound, Bad Stability, August 15, 2001
By
This review is from: Sony SRFHM55 Sports Walkman AM/FM Stereo Headphone Radio (Electronics)
Ask yourself why you want this radio? If it is just to listen to radio at the desk or while watching a ball game then it is great, 5 stars. Great FM capture, solid sound. 2AA, versus AAA, gives superior power. BUT, if you are a runner, like myself, then look elsewhere. It just dosen't have the stability to hold up to jogging. First the adjustable headband dosen't lock in position enough to hold it on your head. Second the AA bateries that improve the sound, over the non-sport Sony Headphone, weighs down that side and causes the unit to fall from the head. Finally, the speaker pads click constantly while you run and after a mile it gets really annoying. I really wanted this one to work. I prefer headphone radios over armband for running and this would be my 4th unit. Sweat and salt rust out the speakers over time and I hoped that this model would prevent that. Unfortunately, it just dosen't hold up to jogging like other headphones. I really don't think they tested this thing on runners.

2.0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment, February 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Sony SRFHM55 Sports Walkman AM/FM Stereo Headphone Radio (Electronics)
The part of the headphones that touch your ears is made of HARD PLASTIC. No cushioning at all, and sadistically uncomfortable. They also make a constant clicking sound when you walk or job. It's a shame, because otherwise this is a good product with a very good radio tuner.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good deal, October 4, 2000

I own one of these little guys. It's fabulous! I think it is a great gadget. I wear it in the office. I can listen to my music without interupting others and I can tune others out as well.

I only have a few complaints. The head gear is adjustable for length, but not width. After wearing the head piece for a few hours it feels a bit tight on the ears. However, this can not be adjusted. The sound is quite good considering how small the device is. Don't be surprised if you can not receive some stations indoors. This radio is not that powerfull. Also note that the ear pieces that actually fit on your ears are very delicate. They seem to be hanging by a fine piece of plastic. "Do not drop this item on the floor" the ear pieces break off and can not be re attached. "sigh"
