Product Description

Amazon.com

Sony's AM/FM stereo headphone radio is designed for active use. Made of high-impact plastic, it uses rubber gaskets, bushings, and water-resistant seals to keep water, moisture, and dirt out. The AM/FM stereo radio has digital synthesized tuning for drift-free reception. An auto volume limiter works to minimize distortion, while large drivers enhance sound delivery.

A dual headband provides a secure fit and adjusts on either side. The flexible FM antenna includes a light reflector for added safety. Its built-in clock also has a battery life indicator. The SRF-HM55 can run on two AA-size batteries (not included) for up to 33 hours. Sony offers a one-year warranty on parts and 90 days on labor.

Maybe this is a design fault or a bad product.

First the adjustable headband dosen't lock in position enough to hold it on your head.

Ask yourself why you want this radio? If it is just to listen to radio at the desk or while watching a ball game then it is great, 5 stars. Great FM capture, solid sound. 2AA, versus AAA, gives superior power. BUT, if you are a runner, like myself, then look elsewhere. It just dosen't have the stability to hold up to jogging. First the adjustable headband dosen't lock in position enough to hold it on your head. Second the AA bateries that improve the sound, over the non-sport Sony Headphone, weighs down that side and causes the unit to fall from the head. Finally, the speaker pads click constantly while you run and after a mile it gets really annoying. I really wanted this one to work. I prefer headphone radios over armband for running and this would be my 4th unit. Sweat and salt rust out the speakers over time and I hoped that this model would prevent that. Unfortunately, it just dosen't hold up to jogging like other headphones. I really don't think they tested this thing on runners.

I own one of these little guys. It's fabulous! I think it is a great gadget. I wear it in the office. I can listen to my music without interupting others and I can tune others out as well.
I only have a few complaints. The head gear is adjustable for length, but not width. After wearing the head piece for a few hours it feels a bit tight on the ears. However, this can not be adjusted. The sound is quite good considering how small the device is. Don't be surprised if you can not receive some stations indoors. This radio is not that powerfull. Also note that the ear pieces that actually fit on your ears are very delicate. They seem to be hanging by a fine piece of plastic. "Do not drop this item on the floor" the ear pieces break off and can not be re attached. "sigh"

The part of the headphones that touch your ears is made of HARD PLASTIC. No cushioning at all, and sadistically uncomfortable. They also make a constant clicking sound when you walk or job. It's a shame, because otherwise this is a good product with a very good radio tuner.

I have been using one for over 5 years. The outdoor reception is great. The indoor reception fades at times. I dropped mine 2 weeks ago and broke the battery cover. Even after 5 years I can't find a better headset to buy than this one.

great sound quality and reception, double headbands may not secure enough for jogging but are great otherwise, station presets and clock are great features.

Mine lasted for over 7 years and served me well for 100s of runs and dozens of baseball games. Eventually the headband cracked and the batteries didn't stay tight enough to conduct electricity, but it served me well.

I am a contractor who wears radio headphones all day when I work. When I received the headphones, I found them rather heavy and clunky, but the digital tuning and the presets were quite an improvement from what I had before and the sound quality was excellent. The next morning, I put them on and pushed the power button. Nothing. Nothing happened. I looked at the display and saw three battery icons blinking, telling me that the batteries were OK. I tried doing everything, pushing all buttons, removing and replacing the batteries, with no success. And the bloody battery icons kept blinking. So I changed the batteries, and the headset came to life. One hour later I turned off the headset to talk to someone. When pushed the power button...nothing...and there were the three battery icons blinking, blinking. Since then I have tried many times to make the thing come to life with no success.

I have mowed grass and done yard work wearing these headphones for years and have loved them since I got them. The strap around the back of the head keeps them snugly in place even when I'm bent over.

I can't stand devices that go in your pocket and then have headphones with cords since when I'm working around the house the cord always gets snagged on things, so these are just perfect!
