Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Take your gaming, PC audio, and music listening to the next level with Sony's powerful, attractive SRS-D5100 5.1-channel (6-speaker) listening system. The SRS-D5100 consists of five satellites speakers (front and rear left/right speakers and a dedicated center speaker), a powered, bass-reflex subwoofer, a wired remote control module for easy listening adjustments, and everything you need to hook it all up.

Pumping a total of 140 watts (12 watts per channel for the satellites and a hefty 80 watts for the subwoofer) and offering a choice of processed 5.1-channel or direct stereo sound from its stereo minijack (.125-inch) inputs, the system will render games or music in rich, detailed, hard-hitting sound.

Each of the satellites features a single 2.2-inch driver, and their wall-mountable design lets you place them on ceilings or walls, depending on your listening space, and of course you can set them on a desk or shelf using their detachable rotating bases. The sub uses a potent 6.3-inch cone woofer.

Dual inputs let you hook up your PC and one other audio source, whether an MP3 player, minidisc player/recorder, CD player, voice recorder, or other device.

What's in the Box
Five satellite speakers with detachable rotating bases, a subwoofer, a wired remote control module, all requisite cabling, a user's manual, an AC power cord, and warranty information.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound - Easy Set Up, August 10, 2005

This review is from: Sony SRS-D5100 5.1 Multimedia and Gaming Speaker System (Personal Computers)
Easy set up right out of the box. Sound is great, with very strong (filling rattling)bass. Ability to move sound primararly to rear speakers helps with the larger room acoustics. No problems and quick delivery! System exceeded my expectations for quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As You Might Think, October 31, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony SRS-D5100 5.1 Multimedia and Gaming Speaker System (Personal Computers)
I bought these speakers specifically because I bought the Sony Vaio computer system they were designed for. The Sony Vaio computer has 3 speaker inputs for: front, rear and center/subwoofer. The speakers have never lived up to expectations. Sony's own software test for the speakers failed every test - as in hearing sound coming from the speaker the sound is supposed to come out of: front, rear, etc. It's easy to connect all the speakers as long as you know which speakers get connected to which input on the back of the computer. I had no problem connecting them. I did have a problem with the sound quality. The subwoofer kicks only when the low end of whatever you're listening to is overwhelming - like a big explosion or something like that. Other than that they sound cheap and tinny with almost no bottom end at all. I have to say I regret buying them but since Sony Vaio machines are designed for Sony peripherals only, what choice so you have. None, I guess.
