Great for the office!,

If you're looking for small speakers at this price range, you shouldn't be expecting much. Given that, these light and small speakers do just the trick for the office if you want to listen to music sans headphones but not loud enough to get on your coworkers' nerves. Plus, these speakers don't need a dedicated power source and can run off the juice running through the input line. But like all disapproving homeboys, a little bass to shake some booty in the cubicle would've been nice.

Great little non-amplified speakers.,

I am sorry for all of those folks who bought these expecting loud/amplified sound that would be able to cut through a lot of background noise, because these speakers will not do that. However, they do work very nicely for my tiny little mp3 player, and when I had my old walkman hooked up at my workstation/office at my job. The sound quality is decent, and at maximum volume on the walkman/cd player/mp3 player that I am using, these little speakers keep my happy, and do not rattle the folks next door. I have had these for about 6 years now, and now for 2-5 bucks, these are worth a shot. I paid 15 originally because they were new. They do not owe me a thing. A strong plus is that they are durable. I have found this out because I am clumsy, and so are folks that put stuff on my workspace. These have fallen from 12 inches from shelf to desk sever dozen times, not a problem. I hope you don't give up on these little speakers because some folks have put them to use with to high of expectations.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
They are so low you can hardly hear them. Just add $10 and buy Sony SRS-TP1. They sound MUCH BETTER, do not require any batteries, either, and are more portable.

These are very versatile, light weight, speakers. For those reviewers who complained they wouldn't power your laptop sound etc. that is not what they are for. They are great for what they do which is provide clear low volume sound without added power cords at the office, or other areas where you can't plug in, for my BlackBerry or my iPod. Anything with an electric cord in my workplace has to be tested and stickered for safety. These do not. They are durable having dropped them several times without problems. Hooking together when not in use allows one to wrap the cord around them for easy stowing in a desk drawer or briefcase. Can not beat them for the price.

Great portable speakers,

These little speakers are really portable, you can carry them to work, school, parties, etc. Once you've finished listening to them and want to store them somewhere, all you need to do is connect them to each other (using the little connecting slots on the bottom), wind the wire around it and you've got a neat little bundle you can take anywhere and set up in seconds. The only power supply they need is from your CD player/MP3 player/ walkman etc., and this is very helpful. However, the only bad point is the small sound volume. I use these speakers with my iPod Mini, and even when I turn the volume up full, it isn't really as loud as it should be. There is no volume adjusting knob/switch on the speakers, you have to adjust the volume using your music player.

It's better than nothing if your intregrated sound card fails and you need some audio. However, the volume is exeeding weak.

I have been using these passive speakers for more than 2 years now I suppose and have had NO problems what so ever with it.
1. It does not need external power source to listen music. 2. Just enough wattage so you can listen to it from anywhere in the room. 3. Extremely reliable - fact that I have been using it for 2 years. 4. Extremely compact as both the speakers can be assembled together and long enough chord for flexibility.

You get what you pay for,

I paid $11 for my set, thinking they might help free up some space on my computer desk - my old speakers were huge blocks, though similarly priced at $15, and I had started noticing considerable loss in quality after 5+ years of use. However, it was evident moments after I had them running that they weren't cut out for any sort of "power" use. These things are definitely CAPABLE of good sound quality, but if you try to make them loud, they'll get distorted very quickly. However, I'm not sure this is the fault of the speakers themselves so much as the quality of the input. I'm going to try getting a small amp and seeing what happens then. But as-is, don't expect any miracles.

I got these at Walmart for around $10 because I wanted some speakers that did not run on batteries. For ten bucks, I can't really complain. It sounds alright and are really easy to carry around (just hook them together on the bottom and wrap the cord around it). A major downside to these speakers is that they really don't have any bass. I normally use these with my ipod so it's nice to have them when I can't lug around my stereo system, but I do have to turn up the volume all the way for the music to sound moderately loud. The battery use on the ipod doesn't seem to be cut down either or at least I haven't noticed. If your looking for some cheap speakers and are willing to sacrifice SOME sound, then these are the speakers for you.

I have had 2 other sets of speakers for my portable
Sony CD player, but they required batteries. I decided to try these Sony PASSIVE speakers that don't require batteries. I can barely hear them when I have the CD player at full volume. You would think with today's technology that Sony or someone could make PASSIVE speakers with great sound quality without requiring batteries to power them. Go figure. |
