Sony proudly offers its SRS-Z500 speakers that feature built-in amplifier with 6 watts for room-filling sound; 3 watts x2, from 500 to 1, 000 Hz, at no more than 10% THD. Sigma-type magnetic circuit helps develop powerful bass from space-saving 2-1/4 inch drive units that contributes to remarkable performance from such small speakers. Sony Mega Bass bass boost circuitry is provided for deep, satisfying low notes. These speakers' high sensitivity achieves high acoustic output for every watt of power. 2-1/4 inch bass reflex woofer with dynamic sound duct for deep, accurate bass and high acoustic output helps produce powerful sound from a small system. High-grade finish matches Sony Discman CD Players and Sony MiniDisc portable recorders and players and blends into any d?cor. I was actually on Amazon.com to purchase another pair of these amazing little speakers. My first set I paid about $100 9 years ago at a Sony Outlet store where they sell refurbished electronics. You can see they hold their value very well, and for good reason. They are sturdy, they sound amazing and they have very good highs and respectable lows. Here's a tip: if you're using these at a computer, bring them up to above or about ear level and it will sound like you have a smaller subwoofer attached. I have taken these with me to Europe and they are always the first thing I pack when I want to take my music with me on the road. I actually lost the original power adaptor for these but I found an excellent replacement for it. Radio Shack sells a 9v 1500mA compact AC adaptor that works absolutely perfectly with these speakers. (273-1771) I can crank the volume way up and the adaptor never gets hot. I challenge anyone to find a better set of stereo speakers for this price.

Really wonderfull and awesome sounding speakers!
but after a month or 6 the glue will loosen of an inner membrane, causing a buzzing sound to be heard.
I found it a pitty and bought a second set. But the same happened on the second set.

I tried contacting Sony customer support many times, but with no success.

Buy this item if you want speakers that will sound good, and only need to last for about 6 months.

I know little about electronics, but these speakers offer great sound. My coworkers have asked about them, intrigued by their sound. I'm buying a second pair for my husband.
