I've been using the product for a little over a month, and it works great, it does everything its supposed to do. My only complaint is that it doesn't have some of the features that competing brand's products do, such as audio out or firewire. Other than that, I'm pleased with my purchase.

This port replicator performs as advertised, but as another reviewer pointed out it doesn't replicate all the ports on the laptop computer. The port I end up having to connect directly on the laptop is the speaker port. The design does leave all the ports available on the machine, though. This means the USB ports are handy for using with a thumb drive or MP3 player. Another drawback of the design is the lack of an independent power supply. You either have to buy another 'brick' converter or use the one that came with your laptop. The USB ports on the port replicator will not work unless the replicator is pwered up. The replicator adds less than 2" to the depth of your laptop. The cables plugged in to the replicator will add another 3" for a total of 5" space needed on your desk or table for the replicator. Connecting the laptop is easy. I put the VAIO in hibernate mode before connecting and disconnecting it to the port replicator. Why buy a port replicator? The major reason for me was to not hookup USB and Ethernet cables to the laptop. Wired Ethernet is faster than wireless, so for major data transfers and extended Internet use, it's faster to stick my laptop in the port replicator. It also forces me to keep the space open on my desk where the laptop is supposed to be 'home'. Not a lot of advantage for a $150 product, but worth it to me.
