Customer Reviews

Fast write speed.
BillyBob
The card has never once slowed the camera down whether it be in taking JPEG Fine in Sports mode or while shooting video.
James G.
In contrast, the Sandisk Ultra took much longer at 23.8s, even though it also qualifies as a class-10.

This is a good card, but keep in mind a few things.

It is rated as 94MB/sec but that is for read only. Write speed, which is more important, is only 45MB/Sec.

These speeds are attainable only if you have a camera that is UHS compatible. When I bought my Sony A77 2 years ago, only 2 cameras were compatible at that time. I am sure there are more now, but check 1st, as it makes no sense to buy a card that will not deliver these speeds if your camera does not support UHS.

Also, if you are using a computer that is only USB 2.0, you will never get the read/write speeds of these cards because it will be capped at 60Mb/sec (the theoretical max speed of USB 2.0, but in reality getting 40MB/sec would be great). You need to have USB 3.0 and a card reader that is UHS compatible.

There is a reason why the SanDisk Extreme is almost twice the price. It is rated 95MB/sec read, and 90MB/sec write. Twice the write speed of this card. I have both cards and the Sandisk will clear the buffer faster with continuous burst shooting with the A77.

When on sale, this card is a no brainer buy, but are most people getting the benefit of these speeds? unless they have a USB 3.0 computer, and a camera which is UHS compatible perhaps not?

After using for 6 months, my card could not be accessed. After calling Sony Support, I documented the following:

1) First they told me this card only carries 90 days warranty until I pointed out its ONE year warranty in product manual.

2) They transferred my called to Sony Cyber support and they tried shifted the responsibility to another Sony group. Finally, they agreed to ship me an replacement after I told the guy that I would report this to your executive management team.

3) Two weeks later, I called again because my replacement was not coming. After couple of phone transfer, I ended up talk to a lady at Sony Repair. She said their department is not responsible for this and she REFUSED my request of speaking to her manager.

Be happy and stay away from Sony!

I grabbed this Sony16GB SDHC UHS-1 Class 10 Memory Card (SF16UX/TQN) during an Amazon Gold Box deal. Prior to this purchase, I already own many class-10 cards sold under different brand names, including Sandisk, HP, Transcend, PNY, etc. So I wanted to see how this Sony card stacks up against other brands.

I tested this card using the Transcend RDF5 USB 3.0 Card Reader connected to my computer's USB 2.0 port. The following is a summary of Sequential Write speeds (as reported by "CrystalDiskMark 3.01") for my class-10 SDHC cards, listed from fastest to slowest:
- HP class-10 CG790A : 29.7MB/s
- Sony UHS SF16UX/TQN (this product): 29.1MB/s <-- [See update below]
- Transcend UHS TS32GSDHC10U1E : 29.0MB/s
- Transcend class-10 TS16GSDHC10E : 16.7MB/s
- SanDisk Ultra class-10 DSDU-032G-AFFP : 12.7MB/s
- Toshiba class-10 THNSH032GTRT: 12.

Make sure to test your cards. I purchased two cards and ran benchmark tests on them. Both cards are testing around 23.39 MB/s read and 17.29 MB/s write.

My Sandisk Extreme Pro tests at 87.42 MB/s and 71.16 Mb/s respectfully on the same test machine.

I used this card for about 4 months and then it just died in the middle of filming on my Sony camcorder. It couldn't be recorded
to, deleted from or formatted. I then double-checked with a Sony still camera with the same results. Since it had a one year
warranty, I began to try to get it replaced. I tried the Sony service internet site first. It refused to acknowledge that this
card even existed, so then I tried calling Sony. I spent hours on the phone over a period of several days. The agents had me
explain the problem and then transferred me to someone else who had me start over. They did this numerous times, leaving
me on hold for long periods of time. Then they would give me phone numbers to call for someone who could solve my
problem. One phone number was for an auto parts store, one was no longer in service. One agent was so confused he
gave me the original number I had called before I eventually got transferred to him. I asked many times to speak to a
supervisor or someone with enough authority to do something and was ignored every time. I was told the card would be
replaced, but was led on "ring around the rosie" trying to get the return address and never did get it. I was told that Sony
didn't honor warranties from companies that sell through Amazon. I explained that I bought the card directly from Amazon
and then they told me that they didn't honor warranties from products purchased directly from Amazon. I finally gave up
and used the scissors to cut the card into tiny pieces. I have bought a lot of items made by Sony over the years, but I
will never buy anything else. It seems as if companies would rather lose future purchases from loyal customers than to
make right a defective product.
