To prevent any problems I sliced off the two buttons with an Exacto knife that I don't want my SO to press and get the remote in an undesirable state - The "Cable" and "Set" buttons. If you slice off the "Set" button, you can still press it with a ball point pen - but it prevents fumble-fingers from accidentally unprogramming the remote.
I am very pleased with this remote for the purpose I needed.
I later replaced my Sony TV with an LG Plasma TV. Although Sony lists some LG codes for this remote, none of them worked for my LG. The packaging of this remote does not list LG as one of the brands that is fully supported. This was a shame, because this is an otherwise very good product.
