Sony VAD-WD Lens and Filter Adaptor for the Sony W Series Digital Cameras

I bought this for my Sony DSC-W80 camera because it is labeled by Amazon as "for the Sony W Series Digital Cameras". Before purchasing, I also called Sony's "SonyStyle" customer service, and was told that this adaptor is compatible with my camera.

It DOES NOT WORK with at least the Sony DSC-W80 camera. I also seriously doubt it works with the W-55 or W700 cameras. In fact, it only works with the Sony DSC-W200 camera.

Both Amazon and SonyStyle have bad information on this item, and most items labeled for the "W-series" of camera. Buyer Beware. I am returning mine.

I don't mind that it's plastic. But it blocks the flash and prevents the camera from fitting in the dock. I gave it two stars rather than one because it does work for attaching lenses. It just doesn't let you use the flash or the dock. You can remove it to use the dock, but there's no solution to the flash problem.

The specification for this product states that it is made out of aluminum. What a bummer to pay almost $30 for what turns out to be a fairly flimsy PLASTIC part. Attaching it requires you to snap it on the camera and then turn one plastic locking ring against another - not a design for the long term...

Note : this product DOES work with the Cybershot DSC-W200.

So much easier to purchase at Amazon rather than trying to deal with the Sony website and UPS

I purchased a DCS-W300 camera and the VAD-WD adaptor on the same purchase order. But the adaptor did not fit the camera and has been returned. I now understand that the correct adaptor is the VAD-WF which is on order. I have not been able to evaluate the lens because I do not have the correct adaptor.
