I bought this product and the lens is good but I don't understand how it doesn't come with a cap because when you have it on the camera you can not protect it from scratches, then I tried to buy a cap separate and sony doesn't make any for a 37mm lens, that is ilogical. The kit is called Filter and Protector, but it doesn't protect itself, so you have to be replacing the lens very often

The filters screw into both the camera and the lens shade so that the shade does not have to be removed in order to change filters. The filters are also threaded so that the lens shade can be screwed into them so the lens shade can be removed without removing the protective neutral density filter. The filters perform as advertised.

The filter cases employ a cam-lock that secures the filter.

Cosmetically, I'd rather they were also available in the same matte black as the camera's lens shade and the casing for the camera.

I purchased these two filters primarily to keep my primary lens on the Sony HD video camera clean. It does that as intended. The only surprise was I need to remove the filter in order for the built in flash to work. Screwing them into the front somehow disables the auto flash, but removing re-enables the auto flash capability.

I used this on a trip to San Francisco and in San Francisco Bay (on the way back from Alcatraz) and it was very effective in turning down the bright relective sun from the water and enhancedd contrasts. Though it made the picture darker, during a bright sunny day it made the images/video much clearer and sharper. I used this in combination with a wide angle lens which made it even better. The protector is also great especially is you're on the water, the salty water will wreak havoc with the lens. Each one attaches to the other easily so you can use both at the same time.
