1.0 out of 5 stars Cute but Worthless, April 6, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My problem was the same as Carla's problem stated here. The laptop is gorgeous, but it makes loud noises, frequently freezes on me, followed by unplanned restarts. After each weird restart is the same black screen saying "no operating system recognized". And I had to unplug everything including the battery to reset it. The last time that happened, the machine is no longer able to restart!!! I read Carla's problem and didn't believe that would happen to me! Obviously I was WRONG!!! Luckily I'm still able to return it!

Don't purchase this item!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this VAIO, May 5, 2010

I normally used DELL computer; have a Latitude D620 that is a great laptop and very dependable so I wasn't very convinced to change for a SONY. My father recommended, so I decide to take the risk.
I'm some kind of a demanding user, normally work with many windows open, and use a lot of application like Visio, SQL, etc., so need a very power computer.
The SONY VAIO VGN-NW330F/B gives what promise, I'm very happy with this laptop, and looks very nice. I'm happy with his 4GB of RAM and his 500GB of Hard Drive, work great feel comfortable.
I really recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same thing happened to me...., August 14, 2010
Wish I had seen these reviews earlier since I purchased a 14-inch VAIO VPC-CW21/L model on Amazon in early May. Beautiful looking, and worked fine for about a month, before starting with "No Operating System Found" messages. Re-boots initially helped, but eventually not. Sony sent field service to replace hard drive (500 GB). Problems reoccurred within days, with next step re-formatting new drive. This did not help either. Now I see they evidently have known this problem existed, which frosts me even more. Still unresolved today!

The only thing these companies understand is never buying their machines again! Quality is terrible these days, too much indiscriminate cost cutting go on. So much for purchasing a "premium" laptop.

Had even worse luck with Samsung Rant mobile phones, with 3 of 6 new phones failing within 19 months! Terrible.
