5.0 out of 5 stars I love this VAIO
I normally used DELL computer; have a Latitude D620 that is a great laptop and very dependable so I wasn't very convinced to change for a SONY. My father recommended, so I decide to take the risk.
I'm some kind of a demanding user, normally work with many windows open, and use a lot of application like Visio, SQL, etc., so need a very power computer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cute but Worthless
My problem was the same as Carla's problem stated here. The laptop is gorgeous, but it makes loud noises, frequently freezes on me, followed by unplanned restarts. After each weird restart is the same black screen saying "no operating system recognized". And I had to unplug everything including the battery to reset it. My problem was the same as Carla's problem stated here. The laptop is gorgeous, but it makes loud noises, frequently freezes on me, followed by unplanned restarts. After each weird restart is the same black screen saying "no operating system recognized". And I had to unplug everything including the battery to reset it. The last time that happened, the machine is no longer able to restart!!! I read Carla's problem and didn't believe that would happen to me! Obviously I was WRONG!!! Luckily I'm still able to return it!

Don't purchase this item!

The SONY VAIO VGN-NW330F/B gives what promise, I'm very happy with this laptop, and looks very nice. I'm happy with his 4GB of RAM and his 500GB of Hard Drive, work great feel comfortable.
I really recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same thing happened to me...., August 14, 2010
Wish I had seen these reviews earlier since I purchased a 14-inch VAIO VPC-CW21/L model on Amazon in early May. Beautiful looking, and worked fine for about a month, before starting with "No Operating System Found" messages. Re-boots initially helped, but eventually not. Sony sent field service to replace hard drive (500 GB). Problems reoccurred within days, with next step re-formatting new drive. This did not help either. Now I see they evidently have known this problem existed, which frosts me even more. Still unresolved today!

The only thing these companies understand is never buying their machines again! Quality is terrible these days, too much indiscriminate cost cutting go on. So much for purchasing a "premium" laptop.

Had even worse luck with Samsung Rant mobile phones, with 3 of 6 new phones failing within 19 months! Terrible.

1.0 out of 5 stars I will never, ever buy Sony again, May 23, 2010
This review is from: Sony VAIO VGN-NW330F/S 15.5-Inch Laptop (Silver) (Personal Computers)
Laptop was over $2000 when bought new. Came LLOOAADDEDD with junkware (e.g., worthless demo software). Took hours to remove all of it. So far: 1) graphics card, battery, mouse key are allll broken just after warrenty expired. All components are SUPER cheap. This laptop is the worst constructed, engineered piece of crap I've ever used and guess what, I paid premium price for it! Expect no more out of Sony.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Was Astounded!, August 10, 2010

I loved the technical details. Then, I was intrigued by the customer reviews, i.e., a lot thought it was fab, a very few called it "junk."
I took what I thought was a common sense risk. I bought a REFURBISHED one. I figured it might have been one of the returned "lemons" which was now fixed.
Now make sure you don't miss this most important part: It came from WAREHOUSE CENTRAL.
When it arrived I plugged it in and it wouldn't even boot, greeting me with only a fatal error message!! An expert I took it to said "nothing in it recognized anything else in it"!!!
I can understand some flaw deep inside the works, but how can someone let a pc go out the door without even PLUGGING IT IN???
However, I must highly compliment Amazon.com, for they fully refunded my purchase price, immediately, before they even got the computer back!
i would say be very cautious, though, if the name WAREHOUSE CENTRAL appears ANYWHERE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great functionality; Good Materials, June 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Overall, the computer is great. Windows 7 and very little crapware makes this laptop very easy to configure to your tastes. I gave this only four stars because of the build quality. The case around the CD tray is rather flimsy, so I inadvertently open the CD tray when I grab it from the side. Additionally, I cleaned the keyboard with isopropyl alcohol and the trackpad had a white haze when the alcohol evaporated. This is an indication of the plastic reacting with the chemicals in the alcohol. This is the first time I have seen this on the several laptops that I have owned, so this is an indication of a lower-grade plastic used for the trackpad.

This laptop was suggested by a friend. I checked it out on a different website before finding it cheaper on Amazon. I love it, it works great, and it looks great. Can't go wrong with this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Be careful of this model---and purchasing computers from Amazon!, March 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony VAIO VGN-NW330F/S 15.5-Inch Laptop (Silver) (Personal Computers)
I purchased this model after debating over another model that I had purchased for my son. The very first day it displayed a "No Operating System found" message on a black screen. My husband told me to immediately return it. I gave it some time thinking it was a fluke. NOPE---tonight it began making a loud noise---then a blue error screen quickly disappeared to a black screen "No operating system found" message. I contacted SONY and was told this was hard-drive and they could not help me over the phone. It was suggested that I return the model for a new one. WELL---today is ONE DAY TOO LATE to return to AMAZON. Could I be any luckier? I would advise you to carefully examine the RETURN POLICY to AMAZON. After reading this tonight--I am thinking that I made a costly mistake to purchase a computer from Amazon and this model might have been a mistake as well.

The Sony Vaio VGN serves as an up-grade for a lap-top that was nearly 8 years old. The machine works well, is fast, quiet and generates nearly no heat (no cooling fan runs) and serves my needs. Its hot-wire input port connects with my video camera and the loaded software does almost everything I want to do. MS Office expires after 60 days, but this seems a typical installation on new computers these days.
