My Sony SZ laptop worked well for the first 13 months of ownership and then the battery died. Not just poor battery life but outright died - most likely due to an internal short in the battery pack. Checking my warranty information I found that the battery is not covered by the extended warranty I bought, was beyond the one year Sony warranty and not subject to one of Sony's battery recalls. After some serious Googling I learned that the replacement batteries are expensive, generic batteries are about half the cost and some folks have reported bad experiences with generics. When I looked into the generics I did note that the power density was not the same as the Sony branded product - look at the mAh rating and the higher the better. Further Googling evidenced that Amazon was price competitive and I had the assurance of Amazon service. The new battery arrived quickly and is an exact copy of the original I had in my Sony laptop when I bought it. My only wish is that they were cheaper and longer lasting.

Purchased the battery for my Sony Vaio VGN-SZ160P about 3 months ago (March 22, 2008) and it works just as well as when the computer was originally purchased 2 years ago. It's unfortunate that the battery needs to be replaced within 2 years, especially at such a high price point ($171.99). I guess that comes with the territory.

UPDATE (Feb 20, 2009): Now just under a year of using this replacement battery it has already died like the original that came with the now three year old VAIO. The price has dropped to $160 but I'm unsure if I'm willing to keep paying so much every year for a battery. Since I travel I may be forced to make another purchase.

Official Sony branded battery replacement. I avoid off-brands as have had poor luck with camera & phone off-brand batteries. Slightly higher battery capacity than original BPS2A. BPS2B series was recalled I think. This new BPS2C works perfectly. Best price at Amazon but still pricey.

I got this Sony VAIO VGP-BPS2C Standard Capacity Battery from Mobileshark back in October 2009. I paid $127 for it. There were ones cheaper online, but I chose this one because it's claimed to be a Sony original product with the same capacity as the original. 2 months later, the battery has completely died and doesn't charge. Even before that, the battery's spring tabs that lock into the computer were completely flimsy. It didn't take much for the battery to pop out, causing my laptop to hard-shut down. The battery doesn't look like the original even though this is advertised as a Sony product. The case has differences in markings, color, and texture and the sticker is upside down compared to the original. I would say with confidence that this is a Sony knockoff. I'm trying to get my battery replaced now through MobileShark.

found that product by looking for a VGP-BPS10. this one here is announced to fit all SZ computers. THIS IS WRONG!!! before you order this VGP-BPS2C verify whether it fits into your SZ laptop. I believed that the SZ model family has the same battery type, I have two different models and the batteries are NOT interchangeable!

Battery arrived in a sealed sony box. Works perfectly, will buy my batteries from Amazon now.

Received battery on time and in new condition. Battery is original sony battery not generic. Seems to work fine for now.

The battery was not working at all and there is not specific instruction for return. I was very disappointed.

It saids it will work with all VAIO SZ notebooks but with the 670FN it isn't the battery doesnt fit at all in it.

I got this battery to replace my original Sony's battery. However, this battery does not last as long as the original one. I do not believe this is brand new as it claimed in the selling listing. It is recondition or some sort.
