This cable works fine: no directions needed, and it automatically alerts the computer (at least it does mine: I use Apple's iPhoto) that the camera is plugged in, which means the necessary software is launched without any effort on the part of the user. What's more, if you own any of the excellent Sony Cybershot cameras, this is the only choice available for downloading photos to your computer.

But if you do use this, be sure to unplug the cable from the camera as soon as the download is complete. If you don't, you may learn as I did that the product has one design flaw: even a moderate amount of pressure on the camera with the plug still in could tilt the camera bend the end of the cable, pulling the metal part from the plastic and rendering the whole thing useless. Which explains why I'm on this page ordering a replacement.

The cable DOES have the "Sony" logo on it, in accordance with its advertised name. The cable looks very precisely made but as for me it is too delicate, too thin. It should have a higher mechanical protection. I used it a couple of times already and it worked perfectly.

The cable was shipped to me with a week delay - eight days after I placed the order. The shipping/handling fee was very high - $5.09; there were just two $0.44 stamps affixed to the envelope (first class delivery). I bought another, two times as heavy a cable from xfish Online and that fee was $1.37 only. The cable was packaged in the mailing envelope only (not enough protection) and there was no invoice included.

I'm so happy I found tho item. The details about it were very informational for me to make sure that I had the right product. Fast Shipping! I will gladly use again in the future if needed!

This is as good as the OEM and works like it should. What more can be said?

Advertisement shows that this is Sony USB Cable but what I got was not a branded coble at all. It also does not work properly. It works with picture package software but computer can not detect an external device without picture package. I am disappointed to buy this product.

Hello All....Needless to say that I am a victim of my own stupidity. Let me explain: I've owned a very nice Sony Handycam Camcorder model HDR-SR5 HD Camera for approximately 3 years. This camera brings this cable with the packaging along with other needed cables to get everything working properly. Well, what can I say...I lost my Mini USB gray cable supplied by Sony about 3 months ago. I did some homework on this cable and how it's suppose to be a USB to Mini USB-b cord which I should be able to buy at Best Buy, Tiger Direct, Amazon, etc.... Because there are numerous vendors that sell this type of cord. I never thought that I would have to purchase "SONY's" cord to get my camcorder plugged in to my computer. I thought that any USB to Mini USB-B would work..... Well, that's where my frustration comes into play. I am one pissed on Redneck to say the least. Why the HELL do I have to buy Sony's $20 cord when I can get it for $5 bucks at the local store???????? What the hell did Sony do to this cord to make it different from all other USB/Mini USB-B cords? I bought the generic mom and pop cord at Best Buy and guess what, the cord didnt work on my camcorder base / computer. My computer didnt register that the camcorder was plugged in using the base it brings.. So, I tried a 2nd vendor cord and same thing happen. Now, I know what your thinking....There must be something wrong with my USB port on my computer or something wrong with my camcorder base... Uhh, NOPE. Tried the camcorder base using this Sony cord that a neighbor had and sure enough, worked just fine.... Now, someone out there PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW IN THE HELL SONY CAN PROVIDE A USB (UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CORD) cable with a camcorder and require any yahoo's out there like myself to HAVE TO BUY there's as a replacement if need be.... What the HECK is really going on?????? MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AND I'M HAPPY TO SAY THAT I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANY MORE SONY PRODUCTS.

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 camera and needed a cord to connect it to my computer. After attempting a search for compatible cords I found that this cord was listed as being compatible with my camera. It isn't. I had to return it. Amazon was wonderful about it, but I wish the cord had worked. Be careful about compatibility issues here. (I ended up buying a Sandisk Image Mate 5 in 1 reader for my memory card instead of trying for another cord)
