Fast, Powerful, Fantastic for Work, Play or School, September 14, 2010
This review is from: Sony VAIO VPCEE23FX/WI 15.5" Notebook, AMD Athlon II Dual-Core P320 (2.1Ghz), 4GB (2GB x 2) DDR3 Memory, 320GB HDD, DVD±R DL / ±RW / -RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250, Atheros 802.11b/g/n, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (Matte White) (Electronics)
I bought this laptop several months ago, and it is by far the best computer I have ever owned. It is lightening fast, I purposely opened fourteen programs just to test the processor, and all of them performed at full capacity. It plays DVD and Bluray Discs with beautiful clarity. My computer included Word/Excel Starter 2010, which is perfect for school or work. Starter is not supposed to have full functionality but I have not found anything that I needed to do that was not included. The built in web-cam and microphone are very convenient and the software has some cool features to play around with. The card reader is also very convenient along with the abundant USB and HDMI ports. Windows 7 did take some getting used to, the documents and window setup are very different, although I had stuck with XP throughout the Vista era. If you are familiar with Vista (and like it) then you will find Windows 7 to have all the perks and none of the pitfalls. The keys are spaced wide which would be useful for someone with larger fingers, though I am not that someone so it took me a few days of typing to become familiar. The battery lasts FOREVER in "Balanced," mode. Right out of the box I watched two DVDs with two hours stand-by time in between. I have had it in the case on hibernate for two days at a time and it still opended and started right up. It is not sluggish on battery power, even when it is low.
There were only a couple things that could have been improved. The speakers, while sufficient, could be a little louder and as with most laptops, there isn't much to the woofers. I did notice that after the first few weeks, the tabs/windows in Internet Explorer started taking awhile to close. This only occured within IE8, not any other programs. I know that on every other computer I and people I know use, IE8 takes several minutes to load. On the Vaio, opens and loads immediately. The mouse is "skips a beat," every once in awhile, but not enough to effect the functionality of the computer or software.
Although this is a microsoft gripe, not sony, finding your filepaths may be a bit tricky at first. I had some trouble navigating the new OS but after a few weeks I had the hang of it for the most part.
Overall, this computer performs like one that should have cost triple what I paid. Sony computers have always been one of the best, and this is just another testament of their reputation.

Great laptop at an excellent value, August 19, 2010
This review is from: Sony VAIO VPCEE23FX/WI 15.5" Notebook, AMD Athlon II Dual-Core P320 (2.1Ghz), 4GB (2GB x 2) DDR3 Memory, 320GB HDD, DVD±R DL / ±RW / -RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250, Atheros 802.11b/g/n, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (Matte White) (Electronics)
I recently bought this Vaio model in black and I love it. Aesthetically, it looks sharp. The keyboard layout has spaced out keys and it even includes a numeric keypad. The mouse pad does have a different texture and I actually like it. However, truth be told, I have had some cases where the mouse pad has not been as responsive as I would expect. The screen is very clear and adequate in size. The laptop as a whole is lighter than I expected and looks like it is built with quality (in other words, it doesn't "look" cheap). The general specs of the system are excellent, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB Hard drive, DVD-burner, Built-in webcam, SD card reader, multiple usb ports. Therefore, you are getting a lot of bang for the buck! Furthermore, I was surprised that this laptop didn't come with tons of "bloat-ware" (unnecessary trial programs). Now a days, every laptop comes with an abundance of unnecessary, simply useless, programs.
Only real issue I have with this machine is the short battery life. I always have my A/C adapter with me in case I need to plug it in and I usually need to do that after about an hour. Otherwise, I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a strong laptop at a great value.

i bought the white sony vaio e series and i love it! its the perfect size for me and works great for college and i love how clear movies come out on it. i know i saw some people complain about the textured mouse pad but i actually like it alot i htink the texture helps move the mouse better then the smooth ones and yea it tickles a lil at first you get the hang of it the keyboard is a lil spaced out but i dont have to worry hitting 2 keys at once just takin a lil getting use to but i personally suggest this laptop to anyone had it over a month and no problems and the fan is working fine that was one of my concerns but i love it and for the price it was perfect i suggest this to anyone :)
