Amazon.com Product Description

Designed with high-end applications such as gaming, multimedia, and graphic design in mind, the SDMHS75P from Sony is a 17-inch LCD monitor with the power and flexibility to fit just about any computing need. A 1,280 x 1,024 maximum resolution combines with a 0.264 mm dot pitch to deliver crisp, accurate images, while a high 600:1 contrast ratio and 400 cd/m2 of brightness make it easy to see both graphics and text, even in well-lit environments. Sony's XBRITE technology optimizes brightness, color, and clarity, while its ErgoBright technology optimizes brightness levels, helping to reduce eyestrain.

With an ultra-fast 8 ms response time, the SDMHS75 consistently delivers uninterrupted motion video and graphics, while 160-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles provide a wide range of visual clarity, making it easy to watch movies with family, or play video games with friends. Inputs are provided for both analog and digital sources, ensuring compatibility for years to come, and plug-and-play compatibility makes setup quick and simple. The on-screen display menu allows you to adjust the monitor's many settings, while Kensington lock support provides an additional layer of security should you need it.

The built-in power supply consumes about 36 watts during normal operation and just 1 watt while in standby mode. With a 15.3-by-5.5-inch footprint, the SDMHS75P fits neatly onto your desktop and is VESA wall-mount compatible, allowing you to free up your desktop completely. 5.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't Sure At First.... But Wow'd By Sony's HS75P/S !!!, December 26, 2005
This review is from: Sony XBrite SDM-HS75P/S 17" LCD Monitor (Silver) (Electronics)
I noticed this lcd monitor one morning at Best Buy and almost laughed it off. It looked a little strange next to the lg flatron monitors - It seemed as though Sony wasn't looking for the sleek / thin approach to lcd monitors. But after looking at serveral other brands and models at the store, I quickly noticed a huge difference in the screen of the Sony. First of all, I counted ZERO dead pixels. A few of the other models including the Westinghouse had 6+! Sony's X-Brite Technology is astonishing! While the lcd appears glossy, or "glary" once the monitor is turned on, it quickly dissapates providing a very crisp and bright display. Dispite Sony's attack at a more modern apperance, I was so pleased that i decided to purchase the HS75P/S. It truly is an amazing monitor and performs outstandingly! 17 inches is plently for surfing the web, games etc. And with this price - you can't go wrong! - Lance

5.0 out of 5 stars Great LCD Monitor, May 3, 2006
By
This review is from: Sony XBrite SDM-HS75P/S 17" LCD Monitor (Silver) (Electronics)
I've been using this monitor for about 10 months now and have nothing bad to say about it. I've used its digital connection on a mid-range AGP Nvidia GeForce graphics card and had very nice performance, and "identical" performance using the analog connection to a low-end integrated ATI Radeon X200 adapter.
What makes this monitor different?:
(1) Its looks--you either like the different look or you don't.
(2) Its XBRITE "glossy" screen--I like the glossy screen, but I imagine some would not. To me, it adds a crispness and realism to the image that is not there on the run-of-the-mill monitor. The downside is that the screen is more prone to glare, so one must take care with placement of the monitor. That is, do not have the screen facing a window or bright lamp. I recommend checking out the monitor at a in-store display before buying so you can see the "glossy" effect for yourself.
(3) Its price--Sonys are expensive, but I think it is worth it as long as you plan to use it for a few years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, July 17, 2006
This review is from: Sony XBrite SDM-HS75P/S 17" LCD Monitor (Silver) (Electronics)
I am very satisfied with this monitor. It has a great picture and great style. Monitor tilts with ease. Takes up little space and looks great. Its not too small, yet not too big. Recommend!
