While there are no hidden treasures. It does everything it says it can do. The only 2 complaints are the way it rests on the bottom doesn't make it quite as sturdy as I'd like (Because of its arched theme). And when reading an MP3 cd it takes more than a few seconds. Overall I give it 5 stars and would/have recommended it to friends and family.

I got this stereo for my office at work and specifically selected one that had an audio input so that I could pipe my iPod through the speakers. I was very disappointed to learn that it does not in fact have an audio input; only a headphone jack. Nevertheless it has good sound and is a good value for the price. But don't make the same mistake I did. Despite the listed technical specifications, this stereo DOES NOT have an audio input.

This boom box is great. I mean it. The sound quality is great. The remote control is wonderful and easy to use. The only thing I miss is there is no way to plug it into a car (no adapter) I guess you can buy an inverter.

I shopped around, listen to different boxes, read volumes of reviews before buying this one. I do not regret my purchase. This is truely a great deal.

When I was looking for a good boombox with mp3 CD features, there were just a few like COBY and RCA in competition with this at half the price. So I was torn between whether I should buy this at twice the price or buy the cheaper ones. Well, I made a wise decision buying this. It plays great. Even at full blast the speakers don't screech. Being an mp3 player, it goes through the folders and files first before playing so that takes some time.
The Shuffle mode allows playing songs randomly although it takes a wee bit more time between songs in Shuffle mode.
The radio works fantastic although the antenna was too tight in my case and it broke. Still it picks up radio stations nicely.
Has a nice remote for those who keep this as their primary music source. (ONE MORE REMOTE!!) The advantage of the remote is that it works from a pretty wide angle and from quite some distance. Yeah, i tried experimenting that and it was good.
It can play CDRW too so if you want create say a bunch of mp3s for a party only to chuck later, hey, save the CDR
All in all, a sleek design, a relief for the sore eyes and ears and although not much to the wallet, its a decision you won't regret.

And yeah, AMAZON offers the lowest prices on this one!

I received this as a gift and am impressed with the sound. This is the second sony boombox I've owned and they just get better over the years. This has a megabass setting that sounds great with classic rock. I am also getting strong radio reception on it, which is unusual where i live - the reception is almost as good as my Grundig shortwave radio. I havent tried the Atrac software yet, so cant comment on that. If you're short on space or need portability, but want a boombox that sounds like a stereo, go with this.

DISLIKES
1) Characters doesnt scroll left-to-right so you have to name your files/folders unique enough to identify by the first few characters.
2) Skips some mp3 files. But I reburn the same songs and it played again so it just might be my CD is scratched.

MISC INFO
1) Plays ATRAC Sony format. You can burn ATRAC CD's using the software included which is suppose to fit more songs in 1 CD w/ slightly lower quality. I dont really use this cuz its too much hassle doing conversion.

The boombox itself is nice and gives good sound, and I was able to play regular CDs and mp3 CDs fine. I didn't buy it for its ATRAC/ATRAC3PLUS playing capability, but since it came with this I wanted to try it out. They include a piece of software called SonicStage which you use to create ATRAC CDs that you can play in the boombox. I was hopeful, because at the default setting (which I assume would be near CD quality) you could fit over 20 albums on one CD (I usually only get 13-14 albums on an mp3 CD at 128 k). Unfortunatley, the SonicStage software is complete crap. I tried many different things and absolutely could not get it to work. Several times it completely crashed Windows XP on my laptop --- I had to dislodge the battery to power it off so I could restart, and that is pathetic for a piece of software! I even downloaded and installed the latest version of SonicStage, but it was equally crappy. So in sum, if you're not interested in the ATRAC capabilities of this boombox and just want to play CDs and mp3 CDs, it is a good boombox; if you're expecting great things from ATRAC, you are in for a big dissapointment and don't buy it.

I bought the boombox a little over a year ago and use it at work. It sounds great and it plays mp3s. The scroller for the mp3s is a bit akward and is usually hard to find specific songs unless you do a good job filing songs and no where to look. I recently had the CD player portion fail on me. I can not get the disc to spin properly. It is not grabbing the disc and also has problems engaging the motor drive that actuates the the cd spinner. I went to sony's website and they suggested that if the player doesn't recognize the disc that it might need to be dehumidified. This only fixes problems with fogging over of the laser eye and does nothing for the mechanical functioning of the player. I am just ticked off that it won't work after a little over a year in service. I have it in a temperature controlled environment and is in a corner so there has been nothing to compromise the integrity of it. The player just plain and simple failed. I am going to break it down and see if I can fix it basically because I don't want to drop another $80 or so.

I have not spent a lot of time with this unit as yet and cannot comment on recording and the ATRAC3plus capabilities or the software. But I have listened to it and I'm very impressed with the sound quality especially given the size and cost of this unit.
