4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic digicam
If you are expecting high quality images, then you aren't very realistic. If you are expecting decent basic photos, that suffice nicely for snapshots and phone images, then you'll be thrilled with this accessory.
The communicam lets you take photos in 4 different sizes, 640x480, 320x240, 160x120, and 80x60. I compared the 640x480 images from the communicam to 640x480...

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate photos, disappointing durability
This camera performed well for about three months of daily use, and then started having trouble connecting to the phone. You can't leave it plugged in all the time because it drains the phone's battery, you cannot recharge while it is plugged in, and you cannot use the headset while it's plugged in. That means, you are plugging it in and taking it out a lot, so the...

I compared the 640x480 images from the communicam to 640x480 pictures taken with my Kodak MC3 digicam, pictures of the same things, taken within minutes of each other, and I was pretty impressed with the communicam.
For a camera that weighs less then a bag of chips, and is about half the size of a business card, the pictures were pretty darn good! In fact, they were pretty darn good for any simple digicam.
I wanted this accessory, pretty much to use the way they show it in the commercials, to take quick snapshots of interesting things I happened to see, and it does that quite nicely. Of course when previewing the images on your phone screen, they won't look so great, as the camera takes pictures in 65million colors, while your phone screen most likely only display 256 or 4096 colors. But, if you look at the photos on a computer screen, they look just fine.
To see the comparison shots I took of my house and front yard, go to hel.stormpages.com/camcomparison.htm . All in all, I am very happy with my purchase of the MCA-25 communicam.

I got this at the AT&T store when I purchased my new T68i. Yes, the pictures look [aweful] on the phone no matter what you do, and yes they look horrible if taken in bad light. But - taken in decent lighting and viewed on a proper computer screen, they actually aren't too bad. You aren't forced to use the camera's LCD screen to frame the picture - there's a little view finder, and it's very simple to transfer the pics to your laptop via infrared, or you can email them to yourself.

I like it.

You can't leave it plugged in all the time because it drains the phone's battery, you cannot recharge while it is plugged in, and you cannot use the headset while it's plugged in. That means, you are plugging it in and taking it out a lot, so the opportunity for damage is plentiful. Make sure you fill out your warranty card and keep it somewhere close to hand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money, January 6, 2003

This review is from: SonyEricsson Communicam for T68i & T300 Phones (MCA-25) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This camera is a joke. First of all, the phone display has such a low resolution that it is virtually impossible to recognize anything on any photo taken. Second, the pictures themselves are very disappointing (resolution, color, brightness etc.). The camera is essentially a useless toy. If you want decent digital photos, buy a digital camera (you'll have to carry the Communicam around in any case).

'A unique snap-on camera for your T68i. Connect CommuniCam™ MCA-20 to your Sony Ericsson phone, take a picture of where you are and send it as part of a multimedia message or as an e-mail attachment. You can save between 14 and 208 pictures in the camera depending on picture size.' - Sony Ericsson. Now, this is what I'm talking about! Let's say your friend calls you. Instead of seeing just their name, you see their picture too! Ok, so besides that, the camera is extremely easy to use, and the pictures are very clear. This camera single-handedly beats out all the competition, including the S105.
