5.0 out of 5 stars A Review Should Not Be a Personal Attack
It is very sad that C. Brown's ostensible review is clearly more a personal attack than a valid review of a Jazz CD. The fact that her comments are so far from the truth, makes that particular review even more ignorable. This is a fantastic CD that stands up to anything you will find in the Jazz genre. 1.0 out of 5 stars Plain Vanilla Jazz
I could care less about her history in the jazz business, her family's history, or the number of seasoned jazz professionals she surrounds herself with. It still comes out the same. Flat. I feel about as much emotional depth in her voice as my son's speaking Elmo doll. She is just what jazz needs...another blond poser. Do yourself a favor and pass on this dud.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review Should Not Be a Personal Attack, September 6, 2007

It is very sad that C. Brown's ostensible review is clearly more a personal attack than a valid review of a Jazz CD. The fact that her comments are so far from the truth, makes that particular review even more ignorable. This is a fantastic CD that stands up to anything you will find in the Jazz genre. The fact that it reached #32 on the Amazon Best Seller List (at the time of my purchase) is a testament of Amanda Carr's rising popularity. The veteran Jazz reviewer, Nat Hentoff (Wall St. Journal) seems to LOVE Ms. Carr and I think his review carries much more weight than the comments of a person who only signed on to Amazon to leave that childish dribble. C. Brown might benefit from actually watching Sesame Street or possibly buying the "Elmo Can Spell Doll" before she throws any more stones at "blondes". Buy this CD and you will not be disappointed. It is a well executed collection of Jazz Standards that will live in your CD changer or MP3 player for a very long time.

Excellent! Amanda Carr is wonderful. I just heard her perform last evening (we travelled 50 miles to hear her) and she has an amazing voice that just keeps getting better. She performed several numbers from this CD and her vocal quality can't be beat! Buy this CD--you won't be sorry!!

5.0 out of 5 stars True jazz, refreshing the great standards, September 13, 2007

This is a fantastic album. Amanda Carr sings beautifully; her voice is warm and emotive, yet clear and restrained. Ms. Carr and these talented musicians (John Wilkins on guitar, Arnie Krakowsky on tenor sax, Bronek Suchanek on bass, and drummer/producer Kenny Hadley) know how to play together, creating seamless music. The selections are excellent, too, drawing from both the Great American Songbook and the bossa nova classics of Antonio Carlos Jobim. This quintet clearly loves this music, and that love shines through every note and rest.

If you don't believe me, Nat Hentoff from the Wall Street journal agrees: http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB118894712728617428.html
