MUSIC FOR THE UP AND COMING,
By Johannah (Brooklyn, NY, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Soon Come (Audio CD)
"Yo, have you heard...of the Unspoken Heard?"--"who?" "Asheru and Blue Black, 'Soon Come', i'm tellin' you, it's the best produced hip-hop album of the year!" The "best produced hip-hop album of the year" was my introduction to the world of the Unspoken Heard. I was in a small, locally owned record store when i first heard "Soon Come". Sitting at a listening station, one is usually inclined to skip through the tracks like: But on this occasion, i was fixed to the sound of something slightly familiar yet ever so fresh. "Soon Come" has since become one of those albums, a trusted friend and companion on this life journey... Soncially, this album stands out as a masterpiece. With production from J Rawls, Khalil, Joe Money, Djinji Brown, Geology and 88 Keys, "Soon Come" gets a nod from some of hip-hop's most creative beat-makers. Many hip-hop albums today pay little attention to the use of "live" sound. "Soon Come" IS the best produced album of the year because it utilizes the richness of LIVE sound without overstepping the bounds...tempting in a time when technology makes it possible for anyone to sound good. Very rarely to you find an album which features each track as its own world...its own room in which to sit and experience. Tracks such as "Truly Unique" and "Dear You" are soaked with detailed descriptions of personal life stories from Asheru and Blue Black, while anthems like "Soul" and "Soon Come" reverberate in your mind long after the CD has been ejected from your player did i mention "Soul" and "Soon Come" as anthems? If you grew up with Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, or simply enjoy a lift...be sure to check out Asheru and Blue Black of the Unspoken Heard ("music for the up and coming") Before this album goes down as a hip-hop classic, be sure to grab it and enjoy the journey...and next time bring a friend! Have you heard of the Unspoken Heard?

Asheru & Blue Black's debut "Soon Come" takes hiphop back to the roots & is undoubtedly one of the most satisfying albums to come out of 2001. Incase you don't know, Asheru & Blue Black are straight "in it for the love of hiphop" Mc's who don't ever talk bout materialistic ish, or drop battle rap type lyrics constantly biggin themselves up. They're refreshing artists who kick material which is essentially food for thought. With production from Asheru himself, J-rawls, Richy Pitch, 88 Keys, Dj Khalil, Geology & other respectable producers you can bet that Soon Come provides the same level of consistency from a musical point of view. This is feel good music, to chill to..with its prominent - jazzy & funky vibe. Fans of most genres will find this album appealing to their taste, as it consists of different musical instruments & vibes throughout.... for all occasions. If you want some hiphop that makes you feel refreshed and strangely satisfied when the music comes to an end, then this is for you.Simple, enough said. Do not Sleep. DOPE IN THE TRUEST SENSE,

Hiphop was my first love and I will always cherish this music and find solace in this place known as the underground. But lately ive been losing faith in the music i love so much the 2004 2005 year was very dissapointing for a head like me the lack of listenable underground albums and overload of wack radio centered MTV rappers cannot be overlooked. Did you know that now we even have a rapper called pretty ricky. SHEESH it seemed like all hope was lost when I was browsing at the local record store and decided to take a listen to this one I was litterally blown away and the rest is history. I have had this album for two years and it still bumps like the day I got it production from Wes Jackson makes this a Hiphop masterpiece worthy of all other producers worship. Asheru and Blue Black are great MCs and spit laid back but knowledge filled flows that easily puts them both on my top 10 MCs list. In a world where so many kids are misled by this Coporate bull crap on MTV Asheru and wes jackson shine as true B-boys that will stand the test of time. also be sure to check out J-live ALL OF THE ABOVE also produced by Wes Jackson
