Two Thumbs up! A Must Have Album For The Millenium!,
By Cristina (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sooner Or Later (Audio CD)
Packed with perfect pitched harmonies, catchy songs, and a unique sound, BBMak's US debut album, "Sooner Or Later," is sure to take your breath away. The handsome trio, Christian Burns, Mark Barry, and Ste McNally, storm the radio waves with their smashing hit "Back Here," providing a refreshing sound that's bound to make your mouth melt. With songs like "I'm Not In Love," "Still On Your Side," "Love On the Outside," and "Unpredictable," you can't stop listening. The wonderful blend of pop and soft rock captivates listeners to a new sound for the millenium. The British pop sensation has made their mark in the music world. They're not only good looking guys with a great sense of style, but they also write most of their music and play their own instruments as well. Three pluses for a band that deserves a pat on the back. Buy BBMak's "Sooner Or Later." You won't regret it. It's sure to make you sing along and dance like you've never danced before. It's an excellent CD to have for any occasion that will give you all smiles ;-)

Sooner or Later,
By sarah (Woodbury, NJ United States) - See all my reviews

The first time I saw these guys they were on MTV, and I have to admit I fell in love with their good looks. (Christian is a hottie) But when I heard their first single, Back Here, I was like they can really sing, not to mention play their own guitars. Their harmonies are beautiful. I found a remake of the song More Than Words that they did for their Asian album and I loved that too so I went out and bought the album, something I don't usually do. All the songs are good. I was surprised because every cd has its bad songs, but this one honestly doesn't. My favorite songs are I'm Not In Love, Unpredictable, and Still On Your Side, but it's even hard to narrow it down to just those three. A lot of people haven't really heard of them, and they don't know what they're missing. Sooner or Later the other boy bands will realize they have some strong competition from BBMak.

THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CD!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sooner Or Later (Audio CD)
Sooner Or Later by BBMak (my favorite band as I am their biggest fan!) is by far the best CD I have ever listened to. Back Here is only just a small portion of the delight on this CD; it is so good that every song should be released as a single. Still on Your Side, the second single is also a great song. Other Favorites of mine are: I'm Not In Love (a nice up-tempo song about love) Can't Say Ghost of You and Me (a beautiful ballad) Love On the Outside and Love is Leaving However all the other songs on this CD are amazing, and I thoroughly encourage anyone who is considering in buying this CD to buy it. Christian Burns, Mark Barry, and Ste McNally not only prove that they aren't a boyband because of their self-written catchy lyrics and yes, they play their own instruments, but they provide you with a CD that you can listen to over and over without getting tired of it. Their songs range from uptempo songs like "I'm not in love" to moderate tempo songs "back here" to slow ballads, "again". They're the next british sensation. It is truly an amazing CD, and I can't wait until their next CD comes out.

A welcomed difference from Bubble Gum Pop,

It's not that I don't like *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys, but after a while, their songs all begin to sound the same. They are all synthesizer-infused, studio created melodies, with seemingly no feeling behind them. That is where BBMak is different. Though they are good looking men, they are also something that the guys from those other groups are not---musicians. Every track, from the first US released single "Back Here" to when the last strum of the guitar on "Again", is a great song, different from the tracks on, let's say, "No Strings Attached". These guys also have great voices to go along with the melody-rich songs they present on "Sooner Or Later". Another personal favorite track of mine is "I Can Tell", a song written by the same guy who did "Give It To You" by Jordan Knight. Although that song was not that great, he has redeemed himself on this track, a sweet and all around GOOD song. "I'm Not In Love" is another good song, a happy sounding song that you'll want to blast when you hear it. Ste, Christian, and Mark all sound like men instead of screaming little Hanson brothers. Sorry Hanson fans! Perhaps the best part of all is that BBMak doesn't try to be who they're not. They can write, they can sing, and their not afraid to show it. This is a great CD and it will have you hooked from the first moment you pop it in the CD player.

BBmak's first album "Sooner or Later" is a real surprise. They first caught my attnetion with their cathcy single "Back Here". I bought the cd on a whim because I enjoyed the single so much. I was pleasatnly surprised with the wonderful vocal, lyrics, and guitars on the cd. The best songs on the cd are "I Can Tell", and "Ghost of You and Me". Their album is well put together with an equal amount of faster, mid-tempo, and slower songs. Do yourself a favor and pick up this cd.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, they DO play their own guitars, but.......,

Say hello to BBMAK, britain's answer to boybands who don't know the difference between a b-note and a baby carrot. They play their instruments, sing etc.....Well, that's all wonderful. BUT, I have to say, with a few listens, trying to get my ears to dissect the music, there's one problem. Basically, every song has the same notes, over and over! I think it's great they know how to play the guitar, but it seems like they only know a few strings. The first single, the undoubtedly catchy "Back Here," is perfect pop. I mean, it's to BBMAK what "As Long As You Love Me" was to the Backstreet Dudes, what "I Want You Back" was to the Nsync-sters, what.......you get the picture. It's the hit for which they truly broke-through. Sure, "Back Here" isn't #1in Billboard, and it's not in the Top 5 on TRL everyday, but it's what you bought the album for, isn't it? Great Song. Other notables include:I'm Not In Love: The probable second single, this one'll pick-up where "Back Here" left off. Right to your brain, drilling a small canal just large enough for it to be stuck there for 2 weeks. Next Time: Ahhhhh, hooks and bridges, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Unpredictable: People, LOVE IS UNPREDICTABLE! Proclaims track 4. Good harmonizing on this one. Ghost Of You And Me: Christian, Mark, and Ste reach lyrical and emotional depths Justin and JC could only dream of. One of the best on the album, no doubt. Love is Leaving: One of the best tracks, it's just delievered beautifully. Still on your Side: The first words brings you in, and it never lets you go. The whole album is quite good. No need for the skip button at all, it's a very well produced album. Ultimately, BBMAk has the workings of a great band, but their second single, whatever it is, has to be as successful, or more successful, than "Back Here." This is just another example of what pop music consists of: Brit's popsters are more talented and more unique, and America's teenyboppers are prettier/finer.

Amazing harmonies, great talent, and not to mention...,
By Sheila Doki (Sherman, TX USA) - See all my reviews

This is a really great CD. I actually saw BBMak in concert withYoungstown & Destiny's Child. It was really fun. I think that'swhen I became obsessed with Christian. ;) He's a hottie... But anyway, that's besides the point, right? I picked up the album a few days ago [They are underrated!] and I was thoroughly impressed! The vocals - wow - blew me away. To tell you the truth, when I first heard "Back Here" I did not like it. It's actually one of my least favorites on the album! That tells you how good the others are. It's refreshing to see a boy band that's a real BAND, as in playing their own instruments. I admit, even though I love N Sync, BSB, etc.... it can get really tiring seeing the same choreographed routine that seems to imply that dancing is just as important as singing. My personal favorites on the album are "Next Time", "Unpredictable", and my ABSOLUTE favorite: "Still on Your Side." That song is sooooooo nice. It shows off their many talents. This album is recommended to anyone who likes *nice* songs that have great vocals. Also, if you like people who play their own instruments. They do a great job at it, by the way! :) BBMak rules!

A GREAT DEBUT ALBUM,
By "krissy143" (canada) - See all my reviews

This album has a really good compilation of songs, that anyone can relate to. From the uptempo like "BACK HERE" and I'M NOT IN LOVE to Mid Tempo like GHOST OF YOU AND ME and UNPREDICTABLE. This album truly proves that BBMAK has something in them. This album also proves that they've got talents, because they don't only play their own instruments but they also write most of the song in this album. It also proves that they're not just a bunch of pretty faces without talents. Not like some other groups out there who claimed that they've got talents when all in all they don't have any. If you like music that are more up or mid tempo or love song or even dance song then I would reall, really recommend this album but if you're not into this type of music then I suggest don't buy it, BUT TRY TO LISTEN TO IT ANYWAY maybe you'll find it good. Because I surely did. krissy

Boyband + Something New = Great Album,
By "milk26" (Danville, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sooner Or Later (Audio CD)
This album is great. Honestly, it is. I think the reason that it's so good is because it's so different from other "boy band" CDs and they're an actual boy BAND (they play guitars). It's something new. They don't just use the synth, break beat loops, and premade stuff but rather play it themselves. I mean I'm all for change (unless they don't pull it off very well) and this is a good pace and place for it. The songs sound similar, but have enough change in melodic lines to make them interesting. So if you're into the Extreme "More Than Words" type of music or the soft guitar pop music, sort of like Savage Garden, then you'll absolutely like this CD. Love, even. Heheh. We need more change in styles nowadays, not everyone can be BSB or NSYNC or 5IVE or C Note or Youngstown or O'Town or... you get the picture. They stick out in the middle of that crowd, and it's a good thing.

Brilliant!,
By cosmo "failure is always an option" (around home) - See all my reviews

A good solid Cd. What I love about this band is that they wrote their own stuff, and could play it...AND sing it! They also had a unique way of trading verses; One guy would get the first, the next guy the second and so on, then all would sing the chorus. I also really liked that they all had voices that blend well; close enough to harmonize perfect, sounding almost like one person. But just slightly different tones and octaves, so that each verse had "their" own sound to it.
Of course personally I think that Christian Burns had the best voice and could have easily been on his own. But still...all together, they sound great! The whole album is good, and I can listen to the whole thing non stop, but my fave is "Ghost Of You And Me" there is a catchy, haunting sound to the singing. So in the end; Good album I'd recommend to anyone. And as the Brits say "Brilliant!" |
