5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Anytime Lotion
I put this on before bedtime and all through out the day after washing hands and all over my body after a shower. I love the big size and the pump is very handy. It is a very good lotion. I wouldn't say it's for extremely dry skin. I would recommend Eucerin or Avon's silicone glove for very dry skin. I have two dry patches on my knees that haven't gone away with regular...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a great lotion, but good for the price.
I purchased this lotion because I wanted something soothing for dry hands and for use after showers, and I needed a scent suitable for both men and women. I have very dry skin and need to use lotion often, especially after shaving. The scent of this lotion is pleasant and unisex, and it is very inexpensive (at my local drucstore the bottle is huge for the price I pay!)...

I put this on before bedtime and all through out the day after washing hands and all over my body after a shower. I love the big size and the pump is very handy. It is a very good lotion. I wouldn't say it's for extremely dry skin. I would recommend Eucerin or Avon's silicone glove for very dry skin. I have two dry patches on my knees that haven't gone away with regular use of this lotion. I'll probably have to try something with alpha hydroxy acids and urea in order to do the trick. But, for "normal" dryness and winter itchiness, this lotion is excellent for that. It's non-greasy after about a minute, so I can open doors and not worry about getting oils on my keyboard. But, my skin still feels soft and less tight. It is less than five bucks at my Walmart. If you've got a store near you, I'd check it out first.

I love this product, and the transaction was great. I had been unable to find the lotion in stores and was glad Amazon had it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love it!, March 3, 2011
This review is from: Soothing Oatmeal and Shea Butter Body Moisturizer Unisex by St. Ives, 18 Ounce (Misc.)
I'm filing this one under my fabulosity category because I use St. Ives Soothing Oatmeal and Shea Butter Lotion purely as a hand lotion, and it is a FABULOUS one! I'm not big on scents in the workplace, and this is soft enough to slide under the radar but still push a comforting scent. As I'm typing this review, I'm enjoying the satin feel of my hands--and I used the lotion about two hours ago! The light lotion lives up to its description as an advanced body moisturizer. I just love the phrase on the back description "soothing hydration" b/c that's what my skin feels like. With a generous amount, I don't have to use it again until the next time I wash my hands. The downside is that I haven't used it on other parts of my body--office use only--so my review is a bit skewed.

The white bottle adorned with oats gives off a "pure" feeling, and matches the naturalistic ambiance in my office. It sits on my bookshelf as a part of my décor (and my office mates don't mind helping themselves, too ). The bottle is a bit bulky, so I imagine that it would take up a considerable amount of cabinet or sink space at home, but it's tall enough for easy access. The pump top makes it a definite office keeper.

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. I guess I can say a have a new lotion BFF.

Would I purchase again? Absolutely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, January 31, 2011
This review is from: Soothing Oatmeal and Shea Butter Body Moisturizer Unisex by St. Ives, 18 Ounce (Misc.)
I have suffered from eczema for the past 8 years now and have always had chronic dry skin. Especially in this horrible winter season, it's really hard to keep my skin moisturized. The flare ups from my eczema occur mostly on my hands, and I've quite literally tried almost a hundred different types of lotion. I've had so many burn, sting, or dry out my already dry skin! I'd constantly have to go back to my prescription steroid based ointment. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is to find a good, daily, allover body lotion and I believe I've found my new best friend with this St. Ives Soothing Oatmeal and Shea Butter! The other day I saw it on sale at my local superstore and had to snatch it up. You can't beat the price AND the quality of this lotion. The smell is great, not too fragrant, and its just the right amount of thickness.
No stinging, burning, itching, or reverse effects. This lotion is truly great and prompted me to write my first review on Amazon.

I purchased this lotion because I wanted something soothing for dry hands and for use after showers, and I needed a scent suitable for both men and women. I have very dry skin and need to use lotion often, especially after shaving. The scent of this lotion is pleasant and unisex, and it is very inexpensive (at my local drucstore the bottle is huge for the price I pay!). It absorbs reasonably well and is better than other cheap lotions I've tried, but it doesn't penetrate really dry skin or help alleviate razor burn; mineral oil (a petrolium product) just doesn't sink into the skin as well as good seed and vegetable oils. I am now using Avalon Organics Lavender Hand and Body Lotion, 12-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2), and like it for its fast absorption and pleasant scent that is suitable for both men and women. It is sold at many drugstores and also at Trader Joe's under the Trader Joe's label for a much lower price.
