Sophia Loren: Yesterday Today and Tomorrow /Two Women

There are some major problems with the print of "Two Women".
1. In spite of the box claiming the film was digitally re-mastered, it is
grainy and unfocused--difficult to watch on a large HD screen.
2. The aspect ratio of the film was cut from 1.66:1 to full-screen TV (1.33:1).
3. English is dubbed.

these two movies reminded me when i saw it in my high school days during the 60s. i have watched all the films of sophia loren and marcelo mastroianni and this movie "yesterday, today and tomorrow" are one of their best movies together especially directed by vittorio de sica. and for the price of one you get 2 superb movies (part 2 is the movie "two women" also directed by vittorio de sica. the story line for the "yesterday..." for 3 episodes are very realistic and sometimes kinda weird but these are great storylines and realistically well acted and directed. i highly recommend this 2 movies in one dvd for those serious collectors of sophia and marcelo's works of art.

Two Women is one of my favorite movies. This is when Sophia Loren showed everyone she is not just a beautiful face and awesome Breasts. Her acting is more powerful than most Actresses can do these days. In real life Ms. Loren had lived through the horrors of war, and she had to reopen many of those terrible memories to do this film. And she did. This is a movie you will never forget!

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow was another great movie. not as powerful as Two Women, but great in it's own way. Sophia and Marcello had magic chemistry between them, and this film really shone with it. Ms. Loren showed to the world that she can do many different scenes, like humor which is hard for anyone to do. And her Strip Tease act was hot. This movie will always be part of my collection.

YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW is presented in its original aspect ratio, widescreen, in Italian with English subtitles. The color, quality and sound is very good.

TWO WOMEN is presented in the print version that was aired on US television in the 1960s. This is the only DVD format I've found in years of looking. It is from an old, poor quality print that has been cut from 1:66 widescreen to standard format 1:33. It is dubbed in English, however the dubbing is done by Sophia Loren and the other actors, and is quite good. Even with the inferior quality of the print and the standard format, it is well worth having this great film in your collection.

Hopefully someone will remaster TWO WOMEN for DVD in its original widescreen format, in Italian with optional subtitles.

Sophia Loren was arguably the most beautiful woman to ever grace the silver screen. She also was a fine actress. Most sexy starlets have only a limited range whereas Sophia could be the trophy wife, the housewife, the starlet, the harlot. She could love, hate, the full gamut. But, always, all men, and some women, would go back to that incredible visage and that figure.

The DVD contains a poor print of Two Women, a film you must see, though you would never want to see it again. It is riveting as it tells the story of two women 'thrown to the troops' during a war. We get a small snapshot look into the face of the refugee.

The other film is Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. The print is adequate, not great. In the film, Sophia has 3 roles. First she is a welfare mom in Italy pumping out babies to keep on the government dole and out of jail. Poor Marcello Mastroanni is the overworked husband. If family life with Sophia is something you can dream about (like me), then the film is not only funny but pretty darn hot too.

The next film is much more lightweight: Sophia is a kept woman who entertains clients such as Marcello. This is the film where she does a striptease for him (and us.) That really is all this part of the film offers, but that's plenty.

The final part of the film (Y,T&T) is a powerful portrayal of the life of a modern woman. Sophia has flashbacks to her life as harlot, mother, etc. We see her full range of acting emotion and it is memorable.

I have been a big fan of Sophia Loren and I was pleased again to see her in some of her best prperformances. Just awsome!
